Re: steering heavy after fitting new rack

Going to keep a close eye on it. If it had felt loose or notchy I wouldn't have put it back on.
She's 21 years old now so we don't expect her to last much longer but i'll keep you posted
on how long the UVJ lasts. Thanks again for all the advice.

Re: steering heavy after fitting new rack

Just thought I'd update. steering got worse so removed lower UV joint and one of the joints was solid. held it in a vice put a short piece of round steel bar in
the seized part and worked it back and forth a few dozen times to free it up. then put it in a tin of castrol graphited grease so it was ...

Re: steering heavy after fitting new rack

Thanks for the reply, I'll run it for a week or so to see if it improves,if not I will look at that coupling. That's what the guy at bongo spares said as well.
We had a new injector block fitted by them a couple of years ago, they are very good and helpful. thats why we went back to them.
It's that ...

steering heavy after fitting new rack

Steering rack started leaking on our diesel bongo so took it to Bongo Spares who fitted a recon rack and new ball joints.
Started driving home and immediately noticed the steering had changed (heavy and didn't self center after going round corners)
took it back and they said it may be tight ball ...

advice on removing fuel injector pump

Just before Xmas I noticed a fuel leak on our 1996 2.5 diesel bongo. It's coming from the fuel injector pump. The van is fitted with a fuel pre heater so it can use cooking oil but we've only ever used diesel. From reading other posts it seems chip fat and seals aren't best mates and on closer ...

Re: 'pulsing' power steering

Had my steering UV start to seize up and the best thing I find is to use a good quality motorbike
spray chain lube they come out thin to penetrate and then thicken up to a grease that stick's
just like that brown stuff. Jack the front up and get someone turn the steering back and forth while you ...

Re: cold weather spec bongo

Just an update. Have finished fitting the heater just need to wire it up now
but I'm stuck at one wire. It's one of four that go to the fuse box. It's coloured (white/red).
Anyone know what its for or where it's attached.

cold weather spec bongo

Can anyone help.
I'm about to fit a eberspacher heater kit to my van but the place I'd like to fix it (under the passenger seat)
is taken up by a small air filter, something called an exhaust shutter solenoid valve and a couple of electrical connectors.
A rubber hose runs from the solenoid to ...
