Re: Navi

Another vote for try somewhere other than Halfords. I love them to bits for certain items and services but they have little to no training before being let loose. They almost certainly won't have seen a Japanese import in the 6 weeks since they left school and joined Halfords :D

Re: 2 stroke oil

Or a thick layer of carbon and burnt grease on your valve stems etc. Like a greasy carbon cushion. I dunno just having a laugh, and my word do we need a laugh... I was told that vag oil is a bad plan for regular use in the Bongo despite the fact it can be done. All the extra stuff you have to check...

Another vote for the Pela, expensive but does make everything cleaner and easier. In the winter you can do oil changes from above without having to roll about on the floor getting wet and cold.

Re: New Exhaust - do I actually need the winter pack?

A lot of people get rid of it, it is highly unlikely to be of any use to you and probably doesn't work anymore either.

Re: How clever is this ? !

I don't disagree Mike, we've had the mass debate  on here before about different solutions for different people. For me its more about the ingenious solutions, things fitting within others things, everything having dual function and completing it all for less than a third hand battered motorh...

Re: How clever is this ? !

Undeniably clever design, I would love to make something like that. I wonder how heavy all of that is though? Got to be close to being overweight surely?

Re: Retiring,Roaming, Rambling, Campsites: Advice needed

We're members of the Caravan and Camping Club and always use CL sites. None have complained about any combination of vehicles we've had (van's, unconverted Bongo etc) and never had an issue with 1 night. They are also a good bit cheaper normally than the big sites. You can search on their website (o...

Re: Bongo 4wd refurb

I also found this little surprise too. It would explain the low coolant alarm kicking off as i drove it into the shop for the first inspection and the nasty knock when starting from cold. https://goo.gl/photos/Je7GsMkwpbw8ersv6 Coolant alarm, nasty knock??! When did that start, did I miss something...

Re: What a difference!

It did have the winter pack, I removed that and fitted the new front section of exhaust, not that long ago. The switch is still in place by your right knee. The batteries had been converted to leisure and starter before I got it.

Yes I carried out this, it is a direct replacement. I bought off ebay with all the bolts and gaskets included. You'll need to block off the vacuum pipe.

Re: Bongo 4wd refurb

This has now turned into something very surreal, it's like you have picked up a different Bongo to the one I sold! Ours had some rusty arches starting to show through but otherwise looked in really good condition inside and out. We had it for four years and none of this came to light. It's interesti...
