Re: Adjustng tailgate

Tell me about it...sgs actually misplaced my struts for a week and had to get the video imagery from parcelforce to see who the driver handed them to....add to that the new Fiamma carry bike I had to redrill because the frame wouldn't fit together with all the bolts in simultaneously...then the fiam...

Re: Adjustng tailgate

Well..here we have it...having ordered a set of originals the difference is obvious...don't reckon those sgs ones Compress down as much.... Even fitting the originals the latch was catching a little but luckily there was a fair amount of play at the hing bolts as you can see...all good now..door shu...

Re: Adjustng tailgate

Sort for the delayed response....and thanks for the advice ! wasn't getting notifications from the forum.... Tailgate seems to close OK with struts off but not with them on, even though I've now dropped all the pressure out of them (it got better with each blast of air). So now they're normal streng...

Re: Adjustng tailgate

i stand defeated and have had to order a pair of replacement second hand/original struts just to see if the door shuts properly with originals on or whether somethings bent somewhere. The reflector strip lines up with the rear light cluster fine and the line of the top of the tailgate looks similar ...

Re: Tailgate Hinges

Hmm....well I did check the spare tyre this weekend too....made sure it was fully up too. Will check tomorrow but I think that the top edge of the tailgate is lower than body line so suspect it's dropped or the hinge sections have deformed..there must have been enough pressure in those new tailgate ...

Re: Tailgate Hinges

YES! Exactly that...just tried fitting SGS struts at the weekend and door latch now banging...I just posted a message today on the forums then stumbled across your thread.....did you get to the bottom of the problem? http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=72469&p=680296&h...

Re: Adjustng tailgate

Ahhh....I see what you mean...my brain hadn't made the 90 degree transformation! Will take a look tonight if my wife is still up to propping the tailgate up without the struts in !

Re: Adjustng tailgate

Cheers Geoff....when it was loaded up, the latch on the tailgate fouled the rubber weather seal and plastic trim of the footplate before it touched the striker..so yes...like the door had dropped downwards..

Are those bolts adjusting bolts then ? If so, how do they adjust?

Thanks
Ant.

Adjustng tailgate

Guys, have a mare ! To cut a long story short, I fitted a bike rack and box to the tailgate and put about 35kg on it to try to calibrate some new gas struts from SGS. Unfortunately they sent back fully charged adjustable struts and the tailgate would close so wife and I repeatedly let 1-2 second bur...

Re: what's with my coolant colour?

I completly flushed it in the end as what came out was very light purple...no gunk or anything worrying tho so what little blue was in clearly didn't do any harm. Took 5 hours tho ! I drained it all down first as well as the rear matrix.then refilled with straight water and bleed the system to full ...

Re: A slight twist to the "bleeding method"

For solo revving I tied some cord to the top of the accelerator..passed it through the drivers side seatbelt guide and across to the passenger side....pull to go faster!

Re: what's with my coolant colour?

Yeah...I changed the atf 6 months ago and level was ok and normal colour today ...not had any steering oddities or noises or stiffness either... The coolant feels slightly viscous between the fingers unlike water but not oily as such... I'll just drain fill and bleed tomorrow with the blue I'd bough...

what's with my coolant colour?

Hi guys, so I embarked on my first solo coolant change today and was promptly stopped by a conundrum.. 2 years ago, I helped 321 away flush the system, change the stat, fill and bleed so I could learn how it was done for this very day. They gave me a bottle of blue coolant to keep it topped up and o...

Re: A slight twist to the "bleeding method"

yup..see what your saying Helen and take your point re jiggling stuff around to get the bubbles to shift. Thought revving the engine would be enough to shift that column of water..so provided you have enough of a reservoir..no need to physically move the funnel..just let it draw down..there'd be up ...

Re: A slight twist to the "bleeding method"

I'm watching this thread in great anticipation as I'm planning my first bleed this week...I've bought a massive funnel ! holds 4 Litres and I've stuck a nipple fixing in the bottom of it ready to plug into the bleed hose. I really don't want to hijack the previous message as I rekon I'll learn from ...
