Re: broken rocker arm
I had broken rockers over a year ago. This caused damage to the cam lobes and proved more economical to replace the cylinder head with a new one. I replaced the piston rings, and crankshaft bearings a the same time. My concern was swarf within the engine, just cleaning all that I call and had finger...

Re: Thermostat housing gasket
Indeed it is a lot easier to do this.
I just went my local Ford dealer and got one from a Ranger 2.5l.
Going to check back through my records, I should have part number somewhere.

Re: Brake light curiosity
We sneakily parked on the beach [over night] at Hayling Island last summer and went into the pub opposite. I had reversed the Bongo against the sea wall. It was only late when night fell that we noticed the lovely red glow of the sea wall. I had placed a battery pack in the foot well linked to the c...

Re: Cambelt replacement - can I do it...
Not all that hard to do. One thing that does make life easier if you make up a tool to pull the sprint tensioner onto the fixed post. I have one that I made 35yrs ago, just 8mm bar ground down to a point one end then rolled into a hook, with another piece of bar welded across the shaft making it int...

Re: Diesel Pump Replacement
I did mine a couple of years ago.
The main thing to watch out for is to make sure that the pump drive shaft woodruff key engages fully into the gear that drives it.
The pump can be secured with out this happening and therefore nothing turns.

Re: Rear anti roll bar removal
Good idea to replace all the rubbers, brackets and drag links at the same time.
Did mine a couple of months ago as one of the brackets had failed.

As long as you get a replacement housing to block GASKET, this method pretty well puts pay to poorly seated thermostat and the possibility of cross threading the housing bolts.
Sorry about the typo there.

Re: overheating
When you say checked the Thermostat did you remove it and get it to temperature in a container of near boiling water on a stove or similar. Personally I would replace as a matter of course when purchasing a bongo [Now gifted with 20/20 vision in hindsight.] As all will tell you on here the bleeding ...

Re: Rear Drop Links
Useful to know it can be done on ramps. I didn't have any when I did mine. Shouldn't make any difference to the suspension mind you if you use stands as the axle is on the stands, maintaining normal sprung weight. But ramps will be a lot quicker! Make sure stands or ramps are sufficiently rated for...

Re: Rear Drop Links
I recently did mine with the rear of the Bongo up on ramps. So axle would not be under stress/ hanging down. Replaced the anti roll bar bushes and retaining brackets at the same time. [One bracket had failed]. Very very easy job especially with an impact gun to hand. Literally unbolt and replaced, n...
