Low cost compatible ABS/wheel speed sensor

Post by Lemner » Sat Jun 10, 2023 4:40 pm

Hello All,
I thought I should pass on a very cost effective, fully compatible ABS wheel speed sensor-
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385619423281

I've just fitted one to the front right wheel on my Freda and all is well; no more expensive light on the dash!

The unit needed a bit of sanding/filing to make it fit through the mounting hole, and the collar had to be ground down to enable the magnet to be close enough to the toothed speed sensor ring but apart from that it was almost factory perfect. The metal bracket that came with it also needed a gentle grinding as it has raised sides which would make the unit again stand too away from the toothed wheel.

At under £7 for the part, I cannot fathom why the Mazda ones are so expensive, it makes no sense.
The whole job took under 2 hours including drilling and tapping the snapped retaining bolt (which was expected).

The main reason I chose this one instead of others listed on the forum was that it came ready cabled, all I had to do was cut the supplied plug off and solder the old one in place.

All questions welcomed.
Clever people the Japanese.
