Well, that’s something I didn’t know….
We’ve had our Bongo five years and in all that time I wasn’t aware if you unlock the van with the key fob but don’t open a door the van will lock itself again after 30 seconds. I’ve had that on other cars in the past but wasn’t aware of this feature on our Bongo. You learn something new every day.

Evidently so, and in this case it was a pleasant trick she was hiding.

Just don't leave the keys on the drivers seat, then go to the side door shut it, stand talking and then you hear the click with they keys on the inside

I’m sure you are not speaking from experience.

Fortunately it wasn't me left them, but I did come round with my key set and let my wife back in, then she cancelled the AA callout
Re: Well, that’s something I didn’t know….
Nice to know, but having only the 1 key, does kinda make me nervous of locking myself out
Is there an easy way to disable it? Or failing that, an easy way to get a second key sorted?
Not looked into either yet but i'm sure you chaps know more

Its a function built into most after market devices alarms and remotes, I think to get the Grade 1 approval, the point being that if you unlock the vehicle then are deliberately distracted to get your attention away from the vehicle, someone else then jumps in and bridges the Ignition system and makes off, this timeout is sufficient to prevent that happening. Much easier to get a second remote and key, infact when I had it added to my latest vehicle they supply three but I added a fourth one as well so that my Son has access as well.
