Bongo Fury

Hi,

New to the forum, got myself a Bongo (Ed) last week... Silver tin top, unconverted 2.5 diesel, now learning all about it.
Couple of mods planned just getting the bits together:-

Fit remote central locking
Swap ccts from main to leisure battery
Fit low coolant level alarm
apply some decals

Later mods will be a removable rear kitchen pod with EHU and maybe a pop top if the family enjoy staying away in Ed.

If anyone sees us in or around Wigan give us a wave

Welcome to the Forum.

Lots of Bongonaughts in the Wigan area, and a good few Bongones, so don't be surprised if you get wild waves (or the Secret Sign) from other drivers.

Enjoy your new Bongo. Those mods will suit it just fine and help you bond with Ed. The early years are so important.

Indeed, that first weekend together, your first MOT, that first time when he doesn't want to go where you do and has to be talked round and bought premium diesel...

His first 'Grown up tyres', how quickly they grow out of them, introducing him to your parents, so much bonding, and so important.

Been a few months now and quiet a bit of work done on Ed...some by choice some by necessity so in no particular order...

New alternator belts fitted (only had one)
Aircon re gassed, belt fitted (bearings are a bit loud so may be in the market for new aircon pump)
Low level coolant alarm fitted (life saver)
Coolant pipe on the drivers side was weeping at the T joint round about drivers door... had this replaced... (which lead to pipe blowing at next weakest point... where the bleed nipple is... which meant loss of coolant after a drive out (picked up by the low level alarm))
New coolant pipe fitted
LB swap loom fitted...(found LB not charging)
New split charging cct fitted
remote central locking fitted
extra 12v socket and USB charge sockets fitted (off LB)
Volt monitor to LB and SB fitted

Things to do:-
Fit Waeco cruise control (if i can find some destructions )
Fit rotating middle bench seat... again could do with some good pics to help with the fabrication.
Make bed space for 2 children (7yr and 1yr)... thinking the 7yr old can go in a bunk over drivers seat... just dont know where to put the baby!
Still toying with the idea of rear kitchen unit and pop top

7 yr old bunk over front seats ,
considering this with grandson who wont go upstairs,
one year old
grand parents.
or even both with above.
get the eldest used to camping whilst you can give him most attention.

Any idea where the break light switch is... seen i need to pick up the green and yellow wire... but no pic showing where it is

I picked up the wiring by the brake wiring by the pedal. Bit awkward to get to but ok once you've released the connector.
Careful you pick a switched live feed that is still switched and hasn't been transferred to a leisure battery. I used the circuit that feeds the instrument panel (numbered 10 on some diags. or 2nd from left on middle row of fuses by driver's knee). Should be at the top of this page:
