Kayaking at the Bash
At the bash are we allowed access to the river with kayaks?
Also does anyone know if it is easy enough to paddle up river for a trip and back down again to the camp site.
I have looked and I think you need a permit after Stourport.
Can't remember from last year how strong the current was but recall when I was having a breakfast cuppa on the riverbank(nursing hangover) an old couple saying, good morning as they came past in a rowing boat, paddling upstream I think(to the right looking from the campsite).
Any info appreciated, or if anyone else fancies it let me know.

Re: Kayaking at the Bash
You can definitely put a boat in the water at the campsite, there's a bit of a beach thing more or less in the centre, slightly upstream of the jetty.
There are proper rowing teams practice on the river past the site, I presume they start in Stourport itself. There are some reasonable sized motorboats on there too so you'd need to watch out for them!!

Last year it was runnig fast due to floods but year before it was great i did some beginners kayak sessions for some of the guys
and it was fab. The ferry runs from Stourport to the site.
Well it did?

Re: Kayaking at the Bash
I did a of kayaking a couple of years ago with a fellow bongo friend rushmon, I was a novice never done it before, I was totally knackered but loved it . paddling against the current I had to stop and have a breather, but I'm not exactly the fittest guy in a boat .
Lost without my Bongo.

Re: Kayaking at the Bash
Hi If anyone at the bash has access to tinternet, could they give me a river report later in the week. I arrive Friday and am bringing 2 kayaks but my mate is a beginner so a river report would be good as we plan to paddle upstream but may not manage if its running too fast.

Good sense to go upstream, then back with the flow. Bewdley is only about 3 miles.
Re: Kayaking at the Bash
Aye Bob, I checked on the UK rivers guidebook and apparently you need some sort of license to go downstream past the bridge at stourport due to motor boats etc. So upstream should be good as long as its not flowing too fast. Lunch at bewdley would be nice if there is any pubs near the river.

The river is quite low at the moment, the rowers from the rowing club at Bewdley were on the river last night.
There's two pubs and a cracking chip shop next to the river in Bewdley, and if you paddle a bit further you will reach Arley which is lovely.

There is another put in spot just upstream in the field next to the camp field. Walk round the back where the marquis is. The drop down to the water is not as steep and there was a large sand bank in the water to stand on, at least there was a few years ago when i was fishing there, check it out. If there are a few of you why don't you get together and transport the kayaks upstream and paddle back.
