If you're going to an event there you used to be able to camp there.
There's a beach just down the road where people just park up and camp on the car park if you're into wild camping or if you prefer the luxury of electric and a cafe on site this is a great place http://www.whitelodgecaravanpark.com/

Thanks both.
Our son is taking part in a sponsored relay bike race for charity on Saturday so I'll check out staying at the track otherwise the wild camping near the beach sounds good.

Just for info debs is quite right, you can camp there. We were in the paddock where there is hardstanding and plenty of grass area. Hook ups are available only on the hardstanding and you would need to get there early to nab one.
Good clean loos and showers as well.
Looks like you could also camp in the spectator areas, there were a few vans on there as well, possibly depends on what is going one though.
What a fabulous circuit and setting.
