Ello ello... We've got a Wellhouse rock and roll bed in't back and wondered if anyone's got the same and if so what baby seat do you use? Thanks for looking

Awwww... never mind. I'll do a bit more research. We may just diasable the passenger seat airbag and put a rear facing seat in the front there.. Just means the missus will be relegated to the back

I don't recall seeing a switch to disable passenger side airbag...

Ahh bummer... Looks like we'll probably HAVE to sell... (the van, not the baby)..
The rock and roll bed with its loose seat pads and poorly positioned seat belts just wont be safe or suitable and the front seat is out because of the air bag.

Have you contacted Wellhouse? I'm sure they would have come up with a solution for another customer in the past or at least could advise you who could modify the seat to allow a child seat to be fitted. There may also be a company that could fit a switch to disable the front airbag.

Yeah, we contacted Wellhouse first and he directed us here.

We had exactly the same issue, and could not find a suitable solution anywhere on the internet.

In the end I had Unwin tracking (http://www.unwin-safety.com/) professionally fitted behind the passenger seat.

I then ordered a single seat with an Isofix mounting point supplied by Scot Seats (http://www.scotseats.co.uk/) which is M1/Crash test certified for use with Unwin tracking.

I now have an additional seat behind the passenger seat in my side conversation (insurers notified), which I can put in and remove as and when required, and can safely fit an Isofix child seat to. When camping, it is just part of the routine to take the seat out, and store in the Quechua Base Seconds (it makes a comfy chair!) and it takes about 3 minutes (although it is quite heavy).

It's cost me about £400 in total, but at least I get to keep the Bongo!!!

Re: Disabling Airbag. A local reputable Bongo garage did say to me this could be done, but I am a little wary of the insurance implications of tampering with a security fitting.

Disabling an Air-bag is now an MOT failure as well.... came in this year.

Not with a switch surely, as some cars come with a switch to disable the airbag as standard?

Switches to disable passenger airbag with a key are pretty much standard on all cars. It is officially recognised that having an airbag deploy on a rear faing child seat does a lot more harm than good. You can buy kits to fit a key-activated switch although these are from the US, so the process for getting the work signed off may be different over here: http://www.airbagsystems.com/switches.html

The seat has a three point integral belt, and an Isofix mounting point. You can see the quick release clamps.

The tracking goes through the floorpan, and is recessed almost flat to the floor, but we just have a rug over the floor anyway.

Its not ideal for access to the rear with a big baby seat on the chair, but I can squeeze through and I am 6 5".

Without the baby seat in, and the seat slid forward on the tracks, you could actually seat 5 in the vehicle if you have seat belts on the RnR bed.
