Looking for an all year round site with hook up

Post by Klikchik » Tue Feb 21, 2012 5:39 pm

Just coming out of hibernation and wondering if I might brave going away this weekend for 2 or 3 nights. Have the new girlfriend to impress so looking for a very quiet, scenic site with hook up and a decent shower block! A pub thrown in nearby would be a bonus!

Thinking Highlands or West Coast but not too far south.

Suggestions would be very much appreciated. :)

Hopefully going here next week to try out the new van, it's only 10 minutes down the road but it'll be handy for ironing out teething problems. It's 10 mins from Aberdeen and the same to Banchory. It's not West coast but the highlands are within easy reach.

It's nice and quiet and very picturesque down by the river. The pub and restaurant next door used to be good but I haven't been for years so I don't know what it's like now, the Ploughman in Peterculter (1.5 mile away) does good food and is a decent pub.

http://www.invercoe.co.uk/touring-and-c ... encoe.html We pitched up about 40 yards from the loch, the views were/are stunning,

This is a MUST http://www.scottishcampingguide.com/link.php?n=223&c= Silversand Campsite on the way to Mallaig, we stopped there on our way to get the ferry to Skye.

Would second iBongo's recommendation re the campsite at Invercoe - stunning views, clean toilets and Glencoe village is only a 10 minutes walk away.

There is also a really cool campsite at Loch Morlich near Aviemore - you can get your own hardstanding pitch in the woods 8) . Was there for a couple of night last weekend in the snow. Bit of a drive into Aviemore though.
