September meet
Hi, folks.
Who fancies a meet in September? I was thinking somewhere in/around the Cairngorms. Personally, I don't mind wild camping but perhaps that doesn't work so well with a number of vans.
Any experience of the campsites around there?

Re: September meet
We would be interested in this, depending on dates of course
No idea on camping in that neck of the woods. Wild camping is cool for us, or a campsite, don't mind.
Matt - check your PMs

Re: September meet
We camped in Boat of Garten years ago. There is a camping and Caravan park as well as a holiday park.
Last year we had a meet up at red squirrel camp site (Glencoe) which was really good. We would definitely be up for it except for the last week in September (we are off to Kalymnos so David can climb)

Re: September meet
Assuming a September meet and a 3 day weekend, and as I can't do the second last weekend, candidate weekends for a meet might be:
2-4th (my preference)
9-11th
Any advance on either of those?
A quick google for wild camping in the Cairngorms threw up the links below, amongst others. Perhaps we might be able to approach one of the parties involved, or potentially a landowner if we're looking to try something like that, or otherwise try and book pitches at an established site in the relatively near future (Boat of Garten looks good!!). Perhaps a bit far out there as an idea, but Feshie Gliding Club might let us pitch up if enough people would be interested in taking a trial gliding flight (or getting back into the air, as in my case), though I don't know anyone there and it might be a long shot. Anyway, here are a couple of links on wild camping...

All that said, somewhere else in the country might be better - any other ideas? I'm sure we could even squeeze in another meet (or two!) this year!

Re: September meet
I should be around for both / either of those weekends.
I keep hearing good things about Loch Morlich - open fires allowed on the beach. Not been there myself yet though.

Re: September meet
We're up for it and either of those weekends should be ok. The C&CC site at Loch Morlich is on our list of places to try as being able to have a campfire on the beach sounds good. Although we haven't stayed there we have been through the site . There is a small shop/cafe just up from the site and plenty of trails for walking or biking. Rothiemurcus is a good site but is not very big so probably not recommended.

+1 for C & C site at loch Morlich. Any chance of you guys checking the site out and report back in the next couple of months?
Re: September meet
I'll try to have a nosey next time I'm passing
Re: September meet
David has stayed at the Loch Morlich site and reckons it is a nice wee site. Either of those dates would suit us

Re: September meet
Loch Morlich campsite had me puzzled. I seached for it in the C&CC website and could not find it. I then looked for it by name and found it as Glenmore Campsite on the shores of Loch Morlich which belongs to the Forestry Commision. Am I talking about the same campsite.

Hi Tony,
They are the same site. The Glenmore situated on the banks of Loch Morlich site is one of the forest holiday sites which is a partnership between the Forestry Commission and the C&CC.
There are three other forest holiday sites in Scotland which are Ardgartan, Cashel and Cobleland.

Re: September meet
Thinking about joining youse for a night or two, instead of a day trip (this could be the first time ever....not bad for four and a half years of Bongo ownership. ).
I could do with booking the weekend off work soon, so what date does it look like?

Re: September meet
2nd - 4th September is good for us.
If we can get numbers quickish we can get in touch with the camp site to see what would be available to us that weekend
