Noisy corner.

OK then, don't organise a noisy corner and we will have the same problem as last year.
You know that telling people to quit at 11:30 will be agreed to on here, but after people have had too much to drink, do you think they will give a stuff.
Don't get me wrong here people, i am not trying to organise a riot here, i am just pointing out the inevitable and thought it would be best if we organised it instead of upsetting people.
Sorry if being prepared is not the right way to go.

I have read the various comments, and I think it is quite clear that this is a family campsite, with reasonable rules, and the 'do you think they will give a stuff' seems to indicate that those so minded are probably not going to respect those rules.

This then puts Ian , the volunteers, and the site owners in a terrible position, with people who may be unfit to drive being asked to move off site, and could jeopardise being able to get this popular venue again, which would affect so many others who obviously love the site.

Like Dandy said, such behaviour in the past has put me off campsites too, with a few individuals ruining a nights sleep for many others.

There is nothing 'inevitable' about getting into such a state that you lose the obvious concern you have just now for others, presumably we are talking about adults, not teenagers here?
Sound travels a long way, especially on campsites, so it puts a responsibility on all campers to respect others right to a peaceful sleep.

I'm definitely with munroman on that point. I don't drink alcohol anyway (no special reason other than I haven't found anything I like the taste of yet) and am still baffled as to why adults knowingly drink to excess and then use it as an excuse for behaviour which they would not contemplate sober.

For my own two pennorth though a lot of us who have young children will be working very hard to find quiet things for them to do from 6am onwards so as not to disturb other campers. We have to do it wherever we camp and it's not easy! It may even be harder than ending a party at 11.30pm.

Have been following this link and well done Chris and others who are TACTFULLY..well until Dandy came on who we all look to for the straight answer ...and find it hard not to comment. It sounds as though some are intent on getting blind drunk whatever is written. Alison has made the other point as well that there will be people early in the morning trying to occupy their children quietly. A lot of effort goes into that exercise

Sad thing is that once a person is DRUNK there is NOTHING that can be done i.e. they are beyond reason of any kind. Only inevitable part about it is that the disruption it causes will ruin the whole weekend for all others who are just looking for a Bongo Bash to remember for the good things.

There are so many Bongo owners booked in that it will be a huge gathering and now there will be that element of when something is going to KICK OFF.

I started this thread to try and avoid any agro again this year and it seems the only way to do that is for everyone to comply with the rules and make it a happy affair for all.
I cannot apologise enough for my actions last year, but i feel that for the good of everyone concerned, fellow campers, the site, and the future of the Bash, that i will comply and be wrapped up warm in my Bongo by 11:30
That is a promise.
I hope that the others involved will adopt a similar attitude to show that we are responsible adults and not inconciderate.

It was a very good natured gathering of singing revellers - in fact I quite enjoyed going to sleep to the sound of it, everyone having a good time and all that. I wouldn't give it a second thought, but as you say it might be best to keep it quiet this year if it goes on late.

My wife & I have owned our Bongo for over 3 years now, and have been to many meets.And in all the meets we have been to including the Big Bash (3rd one this yr ) we have never come across anyone BLIND DRUNK & ready to KICK OFF . Happy & Merry yes but not BLIND DRUNK and i find those comments very offensive when maybe you probably have not even met us. We were in that group that night as were a few others , and do not want to be classed as Blind drunk Yobs etc .We are adults as Tony has mentioned and do respect campsite rules.And would never spoil it for other people .

I think Marjie's comments here are slightly inflammatory & overstate the case, as Andy says, there was no Blind drunk & no "kicking off" & I don't think anyone's weekend was ruined. It was slightly excessive noise & people socialising, unfortunately it was a very still night & sound was being carried accross the field.
Lets not let this degenerate into another pointless argument, & get blown out of all proportion, the rules have been laid down & if you go to the bash, it is only fair that they are adhered to.

Exactly the point i am trying to make Kirsty, You are right this is turning into a futile arguement
like it did after the bash last year.
I started this thread to see if there was a way to keep everybody happy and realised that the only way to do that is to play the game so lets please pull this thread and try to have a good time at the bash.

Its the North West's marquee, not mine.

I was camped next to the NW marquee, went to bed about 10.30 and there wasn't any excessive noise from there after about 11.00....just a few happy peeps chatting.

There was certainly no late night singing/shouting from the NW area late into the night. If there had been I'd have TOLD them to quieten down.

I doubt if I'll make it to the bash this year as I'm away on holiday around the bash dates, probably in France and certainly won't be bringing the marquee. If anyone else wants to pick it up, transport it and erect/dismantle it then please let me know (subject to Ian agreeing to let it on site).

No problem bringing the marquee again, and let me make it clear that we received absolutely NO complaints about that part of the field last year. At no time did anything "kick-off" and it won't this year.

Last year there were a few people complaining here on the forum after the event, but we weren't aware of anything at the time. And we ran security patrols until late. The only noisy people were the Cefn Cribwr lot and I have spoken to Ellen already about this, so hopefully no repeats.

There's no issues with people sitting up chatting and drinking until the sun rises as long as "noise is kept to a minimum".

........well said that man and is common sense really ..... and as Alison has already said....... the campers with little people always do their best to keep the noise down and to be considerate to others in the early morning hours......
