And maybe hang about in Kylerhea on the other side to watch some otters and seals!
Indeed, good recommendations. See below, the brochs are at the bottom of the map (on the mainland) and the otter haven at the top LH side (on Skye). Note that all the roads at the bottom of the map are dead ends, the only road out of there is the one at mid-height on the map which leads across the Mam Ratagan pass to Shiel Bridge.

There's an interesting account on the Undiscovered Scotland website, “Every visitor to Skye should consider going by ferry. After all, although the Skye Bridge is a wonderful structure, crossing it only takes you to Skye. To get to the Isle of Skye, you need to travel by sea. The two Skyes are equally wonderful, but somehow the Isle of Skye feels just that little bit more special.”

I'd recommend this ferry, and the Mam Ratagan Pass to get there from Shiel Bridge, for anyone planning a trip to Skye
Seconded, an absolute must-do. Using this ferry was a definite highlight in our trip, despite the weather. Great atmosphere and we felt we were giving a little back to the community as well. We have two mugs in our Bongo (not the human variety), one says I Love my Bongo, the other Glenelg Skye Ferry. Must be our only souvenir used everyday in the Bongo.
