Can you recommend a campsite near Whitby ish?

We are going up the road to Filey next week to visit the family and fancy trying out the awning on a campsite for a night or two.

Could anyone recommend a good campsite near ish to Whitby, or anywhere further south from Filey?

I've looked at the campsite section on the forum, but come up with nowt!

What are your favourites on the North Yorks coast?

Stayed a weekend last year on Camping & Caravanning site at Scarborough

Usual immaculate C&CC site, pub next door, or 20 min glorious walk along cliffs to a much better pub.

Me and the other half stayed here for a few days in a trailer tent. Very good setup and can't recommend it enough.

I've stayed here a couple of times; good facilities and reasonable prices.

Hooks House looks ok - only 1 option on ukcampsite.co.uk if I try to search for whitby - 'whitby ish' doesnt give anything!

Anyone else any ideas or recommendations??

It's not a bad site, and the facilities are OK - BUT if you don't enjoy walking a round trip of half a mile or so for the loo, then think again!

We ended up spending a night in a B+B at the top of the Khyber Pass, as erm, Sophie wanted to watch the last episode of Life on Mars!

The following day we ended up in Goathland at Abbots House Campsite.
Very limited facilities, tatty toilets and several erm 'gypsy type' caravans with generators, but thought it would be ok to test out the Khyam awning that we bought.

Well, so much for the 10 minute erection! Took us nearly an hour, though we (me) had left the instructions at home!
Air bed had a puncture, so we ended up dumping the kitchen unit and everything else in the awning - folded up the rear seats, and made a bed on the floor!
Not so bad in the end though, we'd found a quiet corner near the stream, the hooting owls were pleasant to hear, and the lack of light pollution made for a very starry night!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, if you are prepared for a half mile round trip, the main toilet and shower block (past the farm house and under the railway bridge) is OK. I actually like the site, and I REALLY like their pricing policy - £6.50 per person, no silly extras for vehicles, awnings, dogs, etc

Makes it one of the cheapest sites I've stayed on if travelling solo with dog

Sokay dp bradford! - we didn't go there on your recommendation - we ended up there quite by accident!

I think the facilities under the bridge were probably better than by the top fields - and yes, it certainly was cheap enough!
Didn't mean to sound like I was complaining - It was certainly adequate for a night in the Bongo!
And the 'Aidensfield Arms' did a good pint of Guinness!!
