Such a thing as Bongo Camper from Factory?

Post by BlockABoots » Sun Jul 23, 2023 9:35 pm

So I'm looking at this Bongo for sale and has been told from the seller that it was a camper from factory so had the kitchen and bed fitted from the factory, it does indeed say camper on the side decals and has the AFT roof, the kitchen looks like a normal side conversion kitchen and not dated at all.

So it the seller correct in what he says that it was a camper from the factory, i always thought they came with the 8 seats and thats all?

Also are there any engine differences between the old model and the facelift for the 2.5 diesel engine (4wd), do the new facelifts still suffer from possible overheating??

A few came from the factory with a small side kitchen unit in place of the near side gull-wing seat.

The other seats are standard, though.

We do use our un-converted one for camping by using the front and middle seats, flattened out with some foam.

Pretty sure the engines are the same.

These are the various layouts

The one with the nearside rear kitchen unit is the bottom one on the left first column.
The engines are basically the same, although later versions had different turbo arrangements on the diesel and minor variations on the petrol models.

Yeah i thought as much, as the side kitchen looks way too modern to be 22 years old.

Will be going to look at it tomorrow, so obviously look for/at:

[*]rust underneath, on the sills and the arches
[*]Check all the electric blinds work
[*]roof goes up and down
[*]any signs of coolant leaks in engine bay
[*]corroded pipes

is there anything else i should look for?

I take it i should defo look at getting the coolant alarm mod done, any other mods i should also look at?

Full service history, including oil and coolant changes.
