The family had a great half day out on the tywyn railway some years ago and it does still look like the movie, if the weather is good it's a lovely run up the valley, you can get off at each station and jump back on again. Not sure the 3 rd class would be much fun as it would probably be on the roof.
Great day out for small children as the carriages are open sided.
Highly recommend.
Muzzes secret hideaway campsite is nearby too, on top of the cliffs overlooking the sea.
