faulty tap

Re: faulty tap
Bob, if your pump is in the same place as mine you should be able to change it without the use of a pit or vehicle lift, it is not that far underneath. I could do mine without even jacking the Bongo up, I suppose it depends how much space your body takes up but jacking the Bongo up would give plenty of room. The pump just has a water pipe on each end and push on electrical connections, nothing difficult........IF it is the same as mine
Never run out of road, traction and ideas at the same time.
Re: faulty tap
The pump is probaly one of these caravan ones
The whale one comes with reducers for 2 sizes of pipe

Re: faulty tap
Kate spoke to Wellhouse this morning, they say hers has a submersible pump fitted inside the tank.
They say the tank needs to be removed to replace said pump, and estimate 4 hours.
I wonder if its possible to cut the pipe and fit one of the in-line pumps, just leaving the original in place. Hopefully the water would draw through it.

Re: faulty tap
Someone must of thought that was a good idea ( sump pump in a inaccessible place, I wish people would think of future maintenance )
Cutting that inline pump in should work
It's onlr running a tap after all
I'd go for the high powerd / flow rate one and hope it can pull through the other one it should do
Only prob with the inline one would be freezing up in winter
You'd be best of splitting it at the pump in winter and completely draining it
If you can get at the water tank where the hose goes in might bo possible to pull it out ( if on a rubber grommet) and pull the old pump of the end leaving it in the tank
But new pump should pull through the old
Worth a try

Re: faulty tap
But then are those in line ones self priming
I doubt it so unless the pipe comes out the bottom of the tank it won't work
Could back fill it through tap
But that would be a pain each time
Might work if you fill it completely up with the tap open but you'd have to brim the water tank
Assuming the fill point is higher than the pump
Then if it drains back you'd be stuck again

Re: faulty tap
They do a self priming caravan water pump
Works on inbuilt pressure switch to switch pump on and off
There £100 tho and a pain at night as they switch on and off
