Post by mellon man » Sun Apr 03, 2016 9:38 am

Hi

pump unit ! What do I need to do??
Thanks..

Assuming it's a diesel, there is an adjustable tensioner:

Thanks Yes it is a diesel
and it has 2 side way adjusters on the top of pump (look like larger versions of the one on top of the altimeter) do I need to tighten these? Cheers..

No. There is a tensioner pulley that needs a 17mm bolt unslackened at the front, then a 10mm bolt that you wind in clockwise to tighten. Starting at the top of the pump follow the belt towards the engine. There is a small pulley about 10cm in diameter about 30 cm along towards the engine from the pump.

small wheel in middle.

the 2 sideways adjusters you are talking about are for mounting the pump. There is another 2 below making 4 in total. Just leave them as is :)

Go round and round :). By adjusting the position of the pulley it tensions the belt: you don't touch the A/C compressor.

Adjuster is centre picture, normally hidden behind the alternator which has been removed here.
