KTC extended life vegetable oil
KTC extended life vegetable oil (soya bean oil) is cuurently £4 for 5l, is this suitable for Bongo use - I usually use rapeseed oil?
Re: KTC extended life vegetable oil
You may find that it is rapeseed oil. Vegetable in a generic term and could be made from a few different plants. Peeps say rapeseed is better as it is thinner but others can be used.
Some people don't buy the extended life ones as it contains GM products and they like the idea of GM.

so no rapeseed anywhere.(soya bean oil)
I've used Soya bean oil in the past and as Mark says "No problems".
It is however a bit thicker than rapeseed or sunflower oil so I wouldn't use it in colder weather.

It is made from GM soy beans. No need to worry about the E900?

nah can be used, a little thicker than rapeseed but fine use a lot less in colder weather mind
Re: KTC extended life vegetable oil
The last batch of KTC I bought said it was rapeseed, so could be anything. Most don't say anything except cooking oil. Have been using it for several years now with no problems except rough idling, which I have now tracked down to the lack of any proper escape route for air with the system I have installed. A job for the winter methinks. Is solved for a while by switching back to diesel for a couple of minutes to bleed off the air then away we go. Could always find where the air is getting in I suppose but haven't had any luck with that so far.

KTC is Britain's largest private manufacturer and distributor of oils and fats. They produce hundreds of different types of oils and fats, and Soya is just one of the many. You need to check the label/tin to confirm what you are actually buying.

All food products need to have the ingredients listed on the label, so what it is made from will be there somewhere.c1rider wrote: Most don't say anything except cooking oil.
Re: KTC extended life vegetable oil
I don't know how but not all oils list the ingredients, I've had plenty that just say vegetable. Tesco for one don't label them.scanner wrote:All food products need to have the ingredients listed on the label, so what it is made from will be there somewhere.c1rider wrote: Most don't say anything except cooking oil.

I think the word "Pure" means that they have lo give the ingredients.(Nutrition)
Re: KTC extended life vegetable oil
Their vegetable one doesn't state anything (or last time I looked at least). I've been running on the rapeseed from Lynn for a couple of years now.
