Where to source a reconditioned 2.5 diesel engine
It looks like I need a replacement engine for my Bongo
The garage reckon it has dropped a valve, but I'm not sure of the extent of the damage to the engine to be honest.
Any suggestions on where to source one? Or do any of you think it would be better to just fix the one I have?

Its always best to ascertain the problem before you start purchasing bits and pieces /engines etc.
Has your mechanic/garage removed the head for inspection etc.
Good Luck.

I don't think they have taken the head off yet. I just got a quick update from the dealer I bought the Bongo from in the first place and they mentioned trying to get a reconditioned engine. They aren't doing the work themselves, another garage has her just now.

Same thing happened to me, apparently it is common, the garage picked for repair ruined the engine so I bought a replacement from George at bongospares, 07836 598528, three years ago now, still going absolutely perfect, worth a ring, it was delivered within two days straight to my new fitters who said it was perfect.

Thanks for the number for bongo spares.
Yep I have a warranty, up to £300 but the dealer is being decent and promised to help me further.
