Ticks

Has anyone had any problems with ticks at Scottish sites this year?

I removed a beauty from the back of my leg after our Glencoe trip last week.
  :?

I think it might have been hiding in the van as I always do a thorough tick check when we get home and we all seemed to be clear on our first night back. The next day I gave the van a good clear out and found the tick the day after that, so I think it must have been lying in wait in the van carpet, crafty bugger. Not my favourite type of insect, give me a good ole midge any day.

Anyone else hit it lucky on the yucky insect front so far this year?

Ticks in a Bongo that's a new one to me, ticks live in long grass. The only time ticks got me was many years ago when I was walking through long grass on my way up the Munro Moruisg in Glen Carron. The got my trusty black Labrador too.

Not been bothered by ticks this year and I was wading through bracken and long grass last week.

Smidge/SSS round the ankles and lower legs seems to help deter them.

Clegs were more of a problem,Fiona got a few nasty bites from them.

Makes the midges seem almost bearable,at least a breeze will keep them at bay!
