Was going to head up that way 9ish Just need to get some more valve caps on route as the little dears around by my mates house have had off with them again
Re: Blackpool Illuminations, 26th September
I only have one picture of Blackpool as this is all we saw.
Re: Blackpool Illuminations, 26th September
Well done you beat us by 1. Apologies for our lateness but we got totally hemmed in by Southport airshow traffic.

Love it! - We gave it up as a bad job as, I think, all the Bongos did in the end.

I'd swear that the same girl from last year must of thrown herself under that coach again cos the traffic jam was the same if not worse. At least this time we decided not to even bother sticking with it. We pulled out of line not just opposite Pontins and headed for fish and chips.dreamwarrioruk wrote:i take it we had a better do last year then by the number of photos this year
The bloke in the chippy told us it's Blackpools busiest weekend as it's the Glasgow public holiday

Re: Blackpool Illuminations, 26th September
Well thanks to the Elgrand Club anyway for trying to get this together, they can't be held responsible for the traffic chaos which saw us take two hours to get from Lytham to the Pontins area before the lights. All the Bongos gave it up as a bad job before getting to the lights, no idea what was going on but three ambulances went past heading south, the police were escorting buses through the chaos and the illuminations traffic went nowhere.
During the course of the afternoon several Bongos turned up including Di & Jamie, z00non, Diamond, RibbleMan, JDS, carlofrede, daveywavey, Hatris (in the end ) and some newbies who arrived just as we were about to set off, didn't get chance to enquire who they were. We watched some of the Southport airshow from the promenade and got a couple of pics of the Battle of Britain memorial flight.....
....and some Bongos on display - ours, daveywavey, z00non and RibbleMan. Bongos came & went during the day so we couldn't get a group shot
As a result of the traffic nightmare, we retired to Lytham to partake of some fish & chips, always an agreeable substitute

Hi Everyone
Sorry we missed you Harry and Trish
We didnt even attempt to do the convoy we left the meet at about 3 and parked up in Blackpool. We went up the tower (for the first time ever £13.95 each).
Had fish and chips that were great, caught a tram from the tower to the pleasure beach and walked back thro the lights.
We havnt done this for a long time, and we didnt think they were as good as years ago,
But maybe thats just us getting old.
We got back home in sunny Telford about Midnight.
Good to meet old friends and new.
Will post some pics when I get the chance.

Sums it up nicely like...
Wonder if we can beat that one next year?? Might have to fit flashing lights rather than neons..
