Group 2 car seat - what kind you you have?

Hi,

I'm hoping any parents out there can advise on a group 2 child seat (18kg+ / age 4+) on the market just now that doesn't have the buckle crunch issue please?

I don't want to go down the route of shortening the seatbelts or wrapping them round the bar as we don't want to risk compromising on safety. Surely there must be at least one seat out there that someone has came across that is suitable?

I know this has came up many times but I couldn't find a recent answer, nor one that actually pertains to the group 2 seat, only questions about baby/toddler seats.

Any help you can offer would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

This question was asked on the 'Mazda Bongo' Facebook group and got a recommendation. :)

It's a closed group (to keep spammers out and help to protect privacy), so you need to be a member to read it.

If you dont want to join, basically someone suggested turning a seat round, so all 'forward facing' baby seats become rear facing. 3 point seatbelts could be added if needed.

Or fit a seat from a later Bongo, that has isofix.

And for a babyseat that is said to be rear facing til age 4, and fits on a forward facing Bongo seat:
"...I also have a Graco Milestone which is rear facing until age 4 and forward facing to age 12. I love it. My little boy is 15 months and is happy in it rear facing. Mothercare regularly do a deal on it for £115...".

EDIT: We've since discovered it's NOT rear facing until age 4! :( This is from the Graco website "This convertible car seat has three different modes - transitioning from rear-facing infant car seat (birth to 13kg) to forward-facing 5-point harness seat (9-18kg) to high-back booster (15-36kg)"

This is the post in the group, if you want to read more: https://www.facebook.com/groups/7571714 ... 977554957/

Thanks Doune for your reply. I never thought of looking for a Facebook group so that's a great idea and I've requested to join now and will pose the question there too.

My daughter is nearly 5 so it would be the group 2 high back booster we need. When your Gracown Milestone is forward facing in high back booster mode, does it suffer from buckle crunch at all?

Thanks for your help.

Hi. The seat wasn't tried forwards facing because we only wanted it rearward.

Following the recommendation on the Facebook group, a Mothercare car seat fitter tried the Graco Milestone rear facing in the Bongo. It had buckle crunch. :(
She said she'd never recommend wrapping the seatbelt, so wouldn't try it. She believed it compromised safety, so lost a sale rather than try it.
That shows how strongly she felt about it. =D>

We have now found a Group 1-2 (9 - 25kg) rear facing car seat that fits the Bongo, without twisting the seatbelt.
It's the Axkid Minikid. You can shop around for the best price. :) Details are on this link: http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... 62&t=73559
