Water pump working but no water coming through tap
Hello, recently just bought a Bongo (with a leaky water pipe, but tap was working), then I got a new pipe fitted, the pump seems like it wants to work as its making the humming noise, but there is no water coming out the tap. Really new to all this, so any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Water pump working but no water coming through tap
Hi
Its likely the pump seized if it hasn't been used in a while, they can make a noise when trying to run, or possibly the pipe isn't connected properly.
If you can get to it they can sometimes be freed with help from a pair of long nose pliers or a sharp tap in the right place, failing that they aren't expensive.
All down to where the convertor put it, some are easy to access, some are right pigs.
Do you know what convresion it is?

Thanks Bob
What do you mean "If you can get to it they can sometimes be freed with help from a pair of long nose pliers or a sharp tap in the right place"? Not quite following what I have to do with the long nose pliers etc? Sorry for being so "green behind the ears". LOL. I can see the water pump just under my sliding side door, but there are so many wires etc. Cheers.

Most pumps will only have 2 wires and 2 pipes, since you can see it could you post a pic?
Note: I have never posted a pic here.
It does depend if the pump is running, but water not being pumped, or stuck/siezed and trying to run. Both will make a noise.
Since you can see the pump and have access to it a repair or replacement shouldn't be too bad.
Roughly where are you? Someone may take a look or suggest a good repair place.
Honestly not being patronising, but there is water in the tank? Known this one before.

With one of the pipes removed you might be able to poke something into the pump and try to manually flick or spin the impeller. If you can see the impeller, perhaps quickly check if it spins when switched on.melanieg230 wrote:Thanks Bob

Re: Water pump working but no water coming through tap
Thanks guys.
I could see all the original wires etc before I took it to the garage to be undersealed. Now I cant seem to see any wires at all, so I'm reckoning the mechanic has tidied them up. I also put 2 watering cans full of water in the pump, but not sure if this is enough. How do you know how much water it takes? Bob you might be right in that there isn't enough water in the tank?
Cheers.

Tank now full as a full thing and it's still not playing.
Anyone know of a member near Stirling in Scotland that might be able to have a lookie?
Thanks

I think they only do work on camper vans that they've converted or sold. At least that seems to be the common theme on the Scotland Facebook page. There's Fantastic Campervans in Fife near St Andrews that might be worth a call but they are a dealer as well so may be the same.Jim the Box wrote:Think there is a place in Grangemouth does bongos, called campers scotland

A caravan workshop would almost certainly be able to fix this, and source a pump if needed, but they are all busy this time of year.

Re: Water pump working but no water coming through tap
Thanks guys. Campers Scotland only do repairs to vehicles bought from themselves. However, they are fitting an auto coolant alarm on my bongo tomorrow. Fantastic Caravans would be able to fix it, but doesn't think an auto coolant alarm needs to be fitted and that we shouldn't be drilling holes in things - LOL!!!..

Re: Water pump working but no water coming through tap
I wasn't convinced about Fantastic Campers to be honest - the guy told me if a Bongo has been driven once in this country without the underseal then there's probably no point in undersealing it at all...
In saying that they look like the sell a lot of Bongo's so maybe I just caught him on a bad day!
Did you fit the pipe yourself or did you get someone else to do it?

Sounds like two bits of very dodgey advice.

I got the local garage to fit a new pipe, but not sure they know enough about our Bongos. It's difficult when you're getting conflicting information!!!..
