Has anyone fitted a new DAB radio aerial to their van ? It looks like they go up the front window pillar and sit top right corner. Trims easy to get off for cables ? Any pics or tips gratefully received.

I have had a new DAB radio/CD/DVD player fitted. The DAB aerial was fitted on the windscreen, passenger side. Works very well and much better than the reception in my company car.

Same here, fitted to left of windscreen by the nice man at Halfords. Not lost a signal yet.

Sounds hopeful, i cant hold a signal sat on my driveway. My aerial seems to be a small t shaped affair behind the rear view mirror, but for all the good it does it just as well be under the bonnet.

Were the wires routed out of view in the window pillar ?

Undo the handle, two bolts, and the trim just pops off, you need to make a little space for the wire to go into the trim, I did this with a Stanley knife but a small round file will work, pop out the glove box, just squeeze the sides and out it comes... feed aerial wire behind and to the radio hole.... refit trim, job done.. ten minutes max...

I've been looking into DAB Aerials too as I have a Pure Highway DAB thingy to fit. The stick on windscreen ones aren't that good apparently so ice been looking for something a little better.

I think I'm going to go for a windscreen mounted external aerial a bit like this one http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/Kinetic_DE ... erial.html

It's not that much harder to install as just like the internal glass ones the wireing goes behind the pillar trim then the internal part is stuck to the glass, the difference is then an external part is stuck on outside.

I did think of both an adapter to use the Bongo aerial and a body mounted one but the windscreen external option seems to be the best compromise.

Hello. Not sure who advised you that the stick on windscreen aerials aren't that good - but on the basis I drive quite a few miles around the country and haven't had DAB drop off of reception (except in deepest North Wales) I wouldn't agree. Much, much better than the factory fitted aerial in my company BMW.

Yep, agree with scratch. No probs at all with the stick on aerial. The signal is good around the lakes and in wales. Bit of drop off now and again but not for long.

Thought I'd update this thread.

In the end I went for an external glass mounted aerial with a telescopic and removable mast.

The stick on glass ones may be good enough for most but I'm convinced this is better in comparison to my mates car that does have a stick on one fitted. It worked very well last weekend on the way to Whitby through Helmsley and over the NYM
