1/ was 8mts the right length to buy? Yes
2/ is this a like for like replacement or is it different in any way? not exactly the same, but sits well (the gripper is quite tight, so you need to use a mallet)
3/ is it not possible to undo the bolts on the back of the roof and lift it a bit to fit it on? It appears so
4/ is it a good fit? Yes
5/ what was the length of delivery? 8m
My Bongo has just gone in for a respray and the rubber is looking shabby and cracking in places. I want to replace mine to finish it off.

Re: Project - Retrim and new paint
Just ordered 8m myself. Total cost £42.47.
Also ordered some rustoleum matt black to do the roof.. hopefully get out tonight to halfords and buy some bumper filler to start filling the scratches in the roof.
Can I remove the old rubber and leave the roof like that?
I guess if I drive in the rain the roof will get wet.. but can i drive in the dry without the roof seal?

As Simon has correctly pointed out, yes I meant the delivery time. I was obviously the only person who didn't spot my deliberate mistake!!
Still want to know though if the fit is good before I buy.

Bitten the bullet and ordered the rubber seal from Woolies. Hopefully will be here in the next couple of days. Seems a bargain at that price.
I can, I do, I did.

Wow what service from Woolies. I only ordered the rubber seal yesterday morning and it arrived today. Can't wait to put it on.

Re: Project - Retrim and new paint
Just a quick update...
Been using the bongo quite a bit and have been on a couple of camping trips. The hot days have tested the interior trimming I did as some of the vinyl has started to peel away, so I need to find a better contact adhesive. The rustoleum paint still looks good but there are a few rust spots bubbling through on the arches and sill, so they will need some work. I'm also thinking of painting it white with green as the grey looks a bit like primer. Project for later this year....
