Sealy seems like poop... lots of immediate failures.

I think someone mentioned 3 tonne SGS engineering trolley jacks are ok.

Certainly cannot mess around with safety critical equipment like jacks, lives depend on them. (Though you
should never go under any sole jack without multiple axle stands supporting for anyone who does not know)

I've never had an issue jacking single wheels with the Bongo scissor jack (which yours appears not to be) and i always recommend a 3 tonne hydraulic jack for a Bongo having seen a 2 tonne one go pop. My 3 tonne hydraulic jack won't lower quite enough to get under the Bongo single jacking points so i use my camping levelling ramps to sufficient clearance. :-)

Oh and i put axle stands in place before removing wheels or getting underneath the Bongo. ;-)

I've a bottle jack (rated 4 tonne) I keep in the van at all times as it takes little space. I used to carry a trolley jack but it took up a lot of space so it stays at home for home use along with the axle stands.

Occassionally it can be a struggle to get a wheel on due to the clearance from the ground even with the bottle jack at full extension and on those occassions I've used the addition of the scissor jack to compress the spring to give a bit more clearance from the ground.

I can see now that that jack I have looks nothing like the ones in Rita's link, they look much more substantial. Thanks for input people.

The main issue was probably fear of reaching the end of the scissor jacks throw and thinking that's not high enough !
By then the stupid looking fire poker cheese thing I have bent meaning I could not even get levearage the 3rd time I tried
(Looks like someone literally forged it in a fire in their garden workshop)

I can only imagine the original jack and lever was lost and this was bunged in to replace it. It does have a
label with Japanese writing on it though... though could be for any Japanese car at a guess.

Unless the scissor jack supplied is not the OEM design for the Bongo. Mine looks smaller and different than those in the pics Rita posted. (look at the lug for putting the handle in, the one I have looks nothing like it.) The one I have looks like it would barely lift a Mazda JDM Flair.

As you have worked out, you have the wrong jack.

As it has Japanese writing on it, it was probably swapped back in Japan before export. Perhaps it was missing at the point of export so they stuck another in? Maybe it was lost when changing a wheel once, and was then replaced? Maybe years back when it was sold, the owner liked how heavy duty it was and kept it for another vehicle?

You should easily be able to find one, plenty of Bongos are broken for spares.

Sure.. luckily I have the other bits the strong long pole with lug on and crank handle to get the wheel down. I have sorted myself
out with the Halford one for now which looks much more like the original Bongo one, bigger stronger and a proper handle not made from cheese
had no choice... needed one super quick.

Have you tried your halfords jack and handle in Ernest yet, personally I dont like the handle and the lifting plate has the wrong profile, but if it does the job.

Have not had a chance but need something, anything.. likely to do the job... and immediately.

And those originals posted says Out Of Stock, which is weird cause website says out of stock and ebay says available.
If they are the same place.
