Intermittent horn (V6)

Post by wildrobot » Thu Jul 20, 2017 11:28 am

Hello I've got an issue with the horn and the mot is due Soon

So when the ignition is on and I press the horn it beeps a little bit, like short beeps and then stops altogether. But when the keys are out it's beeps fine!

Any idea what might be causing this?

Check the earth connection of the horns themselves to the chassis, this gets the full force of roadspray etc. it sounds like some sort of earthing problem, did you have lights on or anything else when the Ignition was on ?

So all seems fine where the horn is (behind drivers head light)

I tried pressing the horn in different places on the steering wheel and after a while it started working normally. So I'm wondering if there's some sort of dodgy connection behind the steering wheel cover.

Can I just take this off? Slightly worried due to the airbag
