It's probably a problem with the struts. In the short term try lubricating them with bicycle chain oil (not WD40 which attached grit). In the long term you might have to send them away to get sorted.

Welcome. Lots of discussion in the past on this so have a search. If all electrics/switches/motors ok then people often accept having to give a slight push from inside to get the roof to do that last bit so the beeper stops. But slightly tired gas struts and/or motors combined (esp in cold weather) with stiffness of tent material are probably underlying causes. How old is yours out of interest?

It is not advisable to oil or grease the struts , If you use printer paper or similar and polish the struts (chrome) until the paper shows no black marks you are good to go.

Does the roof need the nudge to start it lifting up, or won't it stop beeping at the top without a bit of help? :?

The struts help very little at the bottom of the travel but make a big difference above half way. It's the angles 8)

The van is 1996 the roof starts to work then it sticks until I give it a push it then goes up all the way and the beeper stops

Have a wee look at the roof hinges and make sure they are free and true.

Good Luck.
