Air Lift Installation

Just bought a set of these http://air-lift.co.uk/air-helper-spring ... 0-kit.html to help with a bit of bottoming out over bumps when fully loaded. Unfortunately they came without instructions. Looks reasonable straight forward, with a bladder for each side and a thick and thin plastic plate presumably to go either end (with the thicker one to protect the valve). Does anyone know what the recommended way to install these in a Bongo is i.e. with the valve on the bladder pointing up or down?

I've an idea there's a Fact Sheet,or at least info, on here, and from memory think they need to be fitted upside down in a Bongo.

A couple of us left it to a well known Bongo garage in Plymouth, who I'll call Allan's, and very pleased with the results, too.

Thanks Geoff. That shows the valve to the bottom so Bob are you saying to flip that for a Bongo and have it at the top?

You can mount either way up as I recall, can't remember which way is preferred on a Bongo see which ever way has least flex and easiest to run from!

Bob I've just had a trawl through the fact sheets and there is one called Spring Assisters which might be the one you were thinking of but the link isn't working. There is also a bit of info in previous forum posts.

I installed these a couple of months ago. I have the how-to sheet but the system won't allow me to attach a pdf. Can email it to you if you PM me your email address.
It wasn't a difficult job but the pipe must be at the bottom, on my V6 it did anyway, and it was also necessary to remove the coils to pop the air-bag in. Fit the pipe before you insert the air-bag.
It took me a couple of hours each wheel.

I'm thinking of installing an Airlift suspension lift system on my Bongo also. Did you notice any change in ride quality? Also, do you guys use an on-board air control system for it?

Ride is much better, especially when loaded or towing, and I just have the air valve fitted externaly to adjust with a comressor or air line.

Likewise, the air control systems are a bit overkill for a Bongo, I have mine at about 18psi and never needed to vary it to be honest, we played at the start of course but that seemed to be a good pressure.

The pipe end should go downwards and routed to your preferred valve position.
