There have been a few bad reviews online of RAC cover, but if your van is over 16 years old they are one of only a handful of companies that will insure you. Green Flag for instance have this age restriction.

This is one such review: http://www.rac.co.uk/forum/showthread.p ... go-without

Eta cover vehicles up to 20 years old and are much cheaper than RAC

Thanks.
Went with eta, 32.61 for 6 days cover, and I've got a 2001 v6.

That's very good value. Does it include repatriation of the vehicle in the event that you are incapacitated & not able to drive it back?

Yes it does. If it cannot be repaired within 72 hours. They will reimburse reasonable costs for you and passengers to get home.

ADAC - German company. Full European cover including UK so unlimited trips to continent (AA cover UK breakdowns) for around £88 per year for me and the wife with 1997 Bongo and 2001 Defender. No age limit on vehicles, will also recover trailers and caravans. Try and find that level of cover for less than £200 in the UK.

Search the Web for some stories of Heroic recoveries.

You need to call the German office - they speak very good English.

Rich.

Hi
Would you happen to have the number of the office you used for ADAC?....I wonder if they might cover where I live....they don't seem to have insurance here, but I did discover a network of rescue vehicles....
Cheers

I get mine as an add on on with my insurance through camping and caravanning club. £270 for insurance and euro breakdown cover.
