Bargain Bongo!

Post by Markas » Wed Jul 05, 2017 5:13 pm

Having picked up a cheap Bongo a couple of weeks ago I was expecting it to require all sorts doing to it, especially since nothing registered on the temperature gauge :?
The van is currently with a specialist who has replaced the thermostat and flushed the cooling system as well as replacing the cam belt since the vehicle has no service history with it (I know...!) Anyway, apart from a few advisory bits which I'm having done including a new steering rack and exhaust centre section, it seems to be in good health, so next stop rear kitchen conversion :)

Thank you all for your kind comments.
I'm usually extra cautious when it comes to buying vehicles but this one felt basically 'right'. The condition inside and out makes me think that it has been well looked after by its previous owners, and apart from the items mentioned above and a little corrosion in the usual places along the driver's sill and rear wheel arches it is sound.
I'll do some temporary cosmetic repairs to the bodywork to last the summer and put it into my usual bodyshop come the winter. Will also probably put it into 'Rustbusters' - they advertise in the classic car press and did an MG for me last year - for a thorough underseal job.
