Off to France

Post by Scratch » Tue Jun 27, 2017 9:15 am

We are off for a two week trip to France in August (first trip abroad in Bunty Bongo) I have sorted travel insurance and break down cover, booked the ferry and just choosing camp sites. I have two warning triangles, Hi Viz jackets, tow rope, jump leads, duct tape, tyre pump etc.. I know I need a GB sticker and breathalyser kits but is anything else mandatory for driving in France. I have searched the forum already but I know that rules change in this regard.

If you intend to visit Paris in your vehicle it would be worthwhile checking up on the French Emissions Law .

Good Luck enjoy your holiday.

Probably covered elsewhere on here but:

Spare glasses if you wear them
V5 or VE103B, original not copies
Insurance cert, licence, MoT etc
Drink drive limit for new drivers (less than 3 years) has gone down from 0.05% to 0.02%
Drivers mustn’t use headphones or headsets (any device attached to your ear), this covers devices used for phone calls as well as for listening to music
Low Emission Zones in Paris, Lyon and Grenoble

Not mandatory but:
EHIC, they're free
First aid kit, fire extinguisher etc
European Accident Statement Form, should the worst happen. You can download them in a variety of languages from here - http://cartraveldocs.com/
Keep a note of credit card numbers and their respective phone numbers, if you get jumped you need to know quickly who to notify to cancel cards
Handy to keep a note of embassies & consulates, again should the worst happen. For convenience:
