I'm selling me bongo

Post by Gasy » Mon Mar 20, 2017 1:34 pm

Time to move on I'm afraid
So if any one wants a good 2.5td AFT 4x4 with 81,000miles let me know
I've had it 4 years now and I usually keep my cars for 4 or 5 years then I don't loose to much on the value
Am getting the stainless exhaust put on this week
Then will get it in to the body shop for a quick once over of the arches and a couple of stone chips
Then it's up for sale
I've got me eye on a Nissan xtrail
My bongo never given me any probs but I think now is a good time to sell

What!
You just did all that work on the Bongo too!
Do carry on posting on here though. What Xtrail are you looking at. They are a nice motor 2.2 I think is my fav. Although the 1.6 is suprisingly quick.
Good luck.
P.S. I am impulsive too. Just bought a red cabrio Smart car with a duff gearbox! Can't for the life of me think why!
Well it is bright red and silver I suppose that's why. :D

I'm looking at a 2009 x trail
But I thought I heard the 2ltr diesels with 170bhp were the better engines ( chain instead of cam belt )
Was thinking of a 2.2 which is the 150 bhp I think then chipping it to give me the extra towing power I need
Any advice greatly appreciated
Yes I know done all that work but now is a good time of year to sell
If I didn't sell it this year I was going next spring in any case

Well, the new motor sounds great, but it will be a wrench letting Bongy go. :(

Fetch the new one along to some Meets so we can have a good look. :D

Sorry for the late reply Gasy, just got back on line.
Basically any are good but you should avoid the 2.0 ltr it sheds the cam chains when the hydraulic tensioner collapses after about 80,000 miles and puts the rods through the block. The basic problem is they are over boosted with too small an intercooler and this cooks the oil causing early failure.

The other thing I would say is avoid the ones with pearlecent paint finishes especially white as the lacquer coat peels back and they are a bugger to match up due to the flick effect of the pearl.

Oh and avoid the leather seat version as they were made from irradiated cow hide bought as a job lot from Fukkushima when that lot went up.

Other than that your fine with pretty much any of the others.
Good Luck.

I did sell me bongo yesterday
To a fellow bongo owner who had just had there's written off by someone driving into the back of it
We spoke on phone he said I will have it even if engine blown
I know bongos mines just been written off
I've got money no probs
Deals done mate
Pls take advert down I will be at yours 4-5pm tomorrow with cash deposit
Then calls me later can I pay you deposit into your bank ACC tonight
I don't wont to loose it we have 2 family holidays in the next 5 weeks
And some idiot on there phone just ran into back of me and wrote ours off

Hmmmmmmmm I thought
No I'm a man of my word the bongo is yours mate
I promise
I've taken the add down for you
It's yours see you tomorrow night

Texted and called me last night and this morning all on track
Then texts me this afternoon
The other persons insurance is trying not to pay me
I apologise sell it to someone else mate

The joy of selling cars
Thought I'd help a fellow bongo owner out

Don't think it was a scam to get me bank details
But a warning to all selling motors
Just be careful , get cash checked at banks etc, I don't know a lot about electric banking if they pay by bank transfer and I see the money in my account , can they then cancel it later like a check ?

Any way it will sell its a good one
We just had a 9 days in North norfolk, breck farm in me caravan lovely time , cold but good to be back in a field again :D

Hey Gasy
Annoying innit!
As far as I know it cannot be reversed out once its landed.
As you say it will sell, its the right time of year.
