History check for imports from Japan.

Post by Doone » Fri Mar 17, 2017 10:42 am

I thought I'd share this from Allan. He found out you can now get a history check of used vehicles imported from Japan.
Previously he only knew about the BIMTA mileage check.
He's ordered one for our Bongo, out of curiosity, even tho we've had it for several years. :) A check currently cost about £26 and it apparently should include mileage, accident damage etc.

Allan's closed. in Plymouth we recommend PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services

But they don't have any useful data for imports that were imported several years ago. Allan has contacted them to ask exactly how far they can go back.

I guess you've checked Spam folders?
Allan had a quick reply. They've also been pretty good - he checked our Bongo, which was imported more than 10 years ago. The info they had on it was really basic, no use.
So he emailed them to say he was disappointed and they replied to say it was because they can only get data within the last 10 years. It seems the longer ago it was imported, the less data is available.
And they refunded his fee. So that was good.

Well finally received the report.
Clean bill of health.
I was particularly interested to know if any accident damage reports were on the vehicle it shows none and the mileage figures correctly also.
The 4WD has had an accident repair, I would have expected that to have been recorded so it may mean the damage occurred this side of the water.

The report itself was pretty general and does not go into much detail (not like an HPI then) it did flag up a recall issue on the UJ`s shown as the front wheel drive rear #-o
Might be of use to those selling if only to verify mileages, that seems to be a concern to some.

Actually the problem was that Outlook has "upgraded" itself and now decides to filter what I get putting what it thinks I am not going to be interested in somewhere else!
It can be switched off but only for a limited time. I think I shall be looking for another email handler soon.
I am fed up with You tube and the like deciding what I may be interested in too.
