Re: Removing AFT

Cheers Mike as always. That's the reason, they thought they would need the roof off in order for sprayers to work more easily. Seems like a lot of work just for that! Regarding the alternative finishes that have been mentioned, is it just vinyl wrap or have you heard of anything else? Looked into vi...

Removing AFT

Hey guys,

I took Bongo in for full respray quote today. The chap at the garage said it would be best to remove the AFT in order to paint it. Does anyone know how difficult it is to temporarily remove the roof? I would rather not have remove it tbh :S

Thanks as always :)

Re: Questions following the Bongo Bash...

Thanks for the input Jilly. I may still have a crack at fashioning something myself though. All I'm thinking of doing is attaching something to bottom of poles, I guess you would call them 'feet', and the feet have holes in them which pegs go through to secure. Ohhh...I've just possibly realised the...

Re: Full Respray - Private

Hmmm, thanks for the input chaps.

I think it really comes down to biting the bullet, or not. The respray is purely for aesthetic purposes as there is no rust. I just always wanted the factory white and purple! 2.5k plus is a big ask for that though isn't it

Full Respray - Private

Hello Bongo comrades,

Just wondering if anyone knows of anyone private who carries out resprays? As in, not a company but someone who does it from home etc. I'm based on the Isle of Wight but willing to travel.

Thanks as always :)

Re: Questions following the Bongo Bash...

Hey Jilly, Really tempted to get the Khyam sun canopy. Have you used it without having the guy ropes down? I was wondering if I could just use it with the legs and secure them some way, possibly with 'awning plates', something like http://seaflo-uk.com/ekmps/shops/d3eb70/images/awning-leg-fixing-pla...

Re: Best bed configuration for rear conversion

Hey Bongoplod, I'm convinced I've looked at every conversion going and also being on my second Bongo. In my mind the best configuration for every aspect (sleeping, cooking, available space, flexibility) is Northstar's Outback: http://www.northstarconversions.co.uk/6.html There just isn't width for s...

Crank & Camshaft Seals - Garage can only replace Front

Hi all, I'm having my newly imported Bongo serviced plus cambelt change by Hallen Imports. After reading advice on here, I've requested that they change the crank and camshaft oils but they have reported that they can only change the front and not the rear. Do you think it's essential to have the re...

Re: New Import - Converting Speedometer to Miles

I knew it!! Thanks all, really glad I asked now. Have told Hallen that I definitely don't want that extra stuff and just the MPH fascia instead. Also taking the Bongo down to Allan's Vehicle Services in Plymouth for any servicing, heard many good things. Thanks all :)

New Import - Converting Speedometer to Miles

Hey Bongo friends, My new Bongo has just been imported and is in the hands of Hallen Import Specialists. I have to change the speedometer to read in miles in order to UK register the vehicle. On the price list, here's Hallen's description for the work: - Remove instrument cluster from vehicle, insta...

Re: Ply Lining Floor - Installers

Thanks all for input. Yorkshirelass, most converters will lay non slip vinyl flooring as part of the conversion. As Bob notes, Ed at Celtic Motorhomes goes the extra mile in his work and adds some foil insulation beneath the ply boards and vinyl. Think it's definitely worth it for the extra insulati...

Ply Lining Floor - Installers

Hello Bongo friends, Just wondering if anyone knows of companies that offer a ply lining fitting service for the floor? I'm keen to have as much as insulation as possible and have heard good practice is to have foil (Thinsulate?) beneath the actual ply boards. Anyone know of a good company that offe...
