Re: vacuum hose assembly

Thanks guys, I've ordred a couple of 3mm threaded nipples http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390948209350?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT which if I drill the hole out on the big diameter pipe I should be able to screw in to the base of the broken nipple. However the solenoid n...

vacuum hose assembly

Hi All, I thought I'd save myself some money and change the glow plugs on my 2.5TD myself. Unfortunately, while moving the vacuum hose assembly to one side in order to access plugs 3 and 4 I managed to break two of the plastic spigots that the vacuum hoses squeeze on to. This was because the hoses h...

Gearbox hunting TPS fail?

Hi All, My Bongo's started hunting between top gear and the one below. It's not all the time, usually at a very steady speed 45-65mph, generally motorway driving. It generally does it for a few minutes, then settles down again. The clinic archive suggests it may be the throttle position sensor (TPS)...

Re: Memory foam mattress

Poundstretcher is the best value I've found for these. £29.99 for a double if I remember correctly. I use two up top because the base is a bit firm, but one is adequate below. If you're feeling imaginative they would be easy to cut an insert out of for the roof hatch, but I've never bothered.

Re: Foglight fuse

Thank you.

I don't have a front foglight as it's not a legal requirement. Just the one switch for the rear. I'll have a look behind the switch. Am I wrong to think if it was the fuse then the switch wouldn't illuminate in the 'on' position

Foglight fuse

Can anybody suggest which fuse a rear retro-fitted foglight usually uses? I have just fitted one to the existing wiring (last one got knocked off) but it doesn't work and I need to check fuse before anything else. The "on" light on the foglight button does actually come on when switched bu...

Re: Aircon refurb

Thanks Simon, Will get it seen to. Eventually. Timing belt due for a change this summer, too. So given the choice between being a bit sweaty on the motorway, and completely stranded beside the motorway, I think the aircon will have to wait. I was hoping the old DIY regas kit from Halfords would repr...

Aircon refurb

I can't get my aircon up to pressure for very long and it only blows marginally lower than environmental temp. If the seals are perished would I see any evidence of leaks or does the refrigerant just evaporate when exposed? And how much am I looking at for a specialist to replace a set of seals and ...

Re: Remote locking

When you say it's easy to adjust, Jaylee, are you doing that while the lock rod is in its normal position or do you push it down through the hole in the door frame and out through the large hole along the door handle rod to give you better access to it? I was doing the latter and had a bu**er of a t...

Re: Remote locking

Yep it was a dodgy earth. That was the easy bit. The hard part was getting the solenoid rods lined up and secured. No skin left on my knuckles but whole thing seems to be working now. So that's an alarm and remote locking for the princely sum of £25, though I daren't count the hours spent on it.... ...

Re: Remote locking

Solenoids not burnt out. Both work fine connected to battery.. Wonder if the module is faulty.

Re: Remote locking

Hanksy, I haven't tried connecting them direct to the battery - that's my next task.

They're two-wire solenoids, not four.

Re: Remote locking

Thank-you chaps, as always, esp Jaylee who so patiently helped me get the burglar alarm fitted the first time! You are a gent. Jaylee, I don't have a leisure battery. I don't have a voltmeter as such but one of those cheap light-up thingies, and sure enough when I press lock or unlock on the remote ...

Remote locking

Hi All, Finally got around to fitting my remote locking module and solenoid. It was actually a burglar alarm and remote locking in one, and I fitted the alarm some time ago, but having probs with the remote locking. I connected it up as per instructions, with the power supply to the sliding door mot...
