Re: Going abroad with ONLY the bongo - no trailer etc

I don't for a minute say it's not possible to live in a Bongo for long stretches - but I have decided it's not for me. I've got a year's career break in front of me, travelling Europe with my dog for much of it. I want a permanent bed, I want garage space for sports equipment and wet gear, I want sw...

Re: Urgent - towing a trailer Germany

Quick googling tells me: 80 km/h = 50 mph.

You can apply for an exemption to do 100 km/h (62 mph), but that's complicated and has to be done well in advance.

S l o w l y does it, eh?

Replacement of the whole system (tank, pipes, tap) is the only solution.

Re: Bongo Monthly meet for May

It's not that I don't love you anymore, my fellow Bongoliers, but Life's happening and I seem to be away from home turf each and every last Sunday in the month. I think I'm on-call the first weekend in July, though, and will pop round (work permitting).

You can always drop him off at The Rock in Yelverton or the Drake's Manor Inn in Buckland - both nice pubs with good beers. 8)

This, hard as it may be to believe, is a pub car park! :) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5291/5506486051_f11d987dd5.jpg http://www.theportwilliam.co.uk/charged me a fiver for the pleasure, perhaps a little steep, but worth the view at sunset: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5171/5506487955_58c3f7ae25...

Re: New wheel arches

Here you go - I think the job looks a good'un. (I do, however, need some shinier wheel nuts quite urgently. Any tips?) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5091/5507079122_01a7cf5221.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5137/5507079976_06b4c5bfbc.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5295/5507081004_25fac89dae...

Re: New wheel arches

I decided to let them put the Transit arches in - looks really nice. (Photos in daytime.) They've also waxoiled the arches, apparently it's standard procedure for them. =D> Total cost £480, which seems acceptable. Not acceptable, though, is the fact my leisure battery was dead when I picked ...

Re: rear fog light flush

As your Bongo is already UK registered, to be MOT legal, you'll need a switch (on the dash) that illuminates when the rear fog light is on. You can pick these up pretty cheaply from most car accessory shops. Thanks, Lorna! I'll have a look at my switch when I get the van back from getting new trous...

Sterling advice, that! Could we add this info to a sticky post, along the lines of "what you really need to know to travel to the continent"?

Re: rear fog light flush

Does "E Mark" mean it's UK road legal and MOTable?

That would be just the solution for me, as I could have my second reversing light back (with the monster LED bulbs, too - I should be able to see something at last).

Re: Import Scheme Nightmare

(...) the dealers risk is spread over all the cars he sells in the year, so one low oil pressure car needing work for another 100 that are spot on dissolves the risk. The dealer's risk. Exactly. The case discussed appears to have the risk placed entirely on the customer. This, in my opinion, is wro...

Re: New Reversing Bulb

Thanks to you both! I was really having a cerebrally challenged moment with that purchase! I've now placed my order for a couple of those. If one isn't bright enough, I'll have to re-convert my rear fog light into a second reversing one. Looking forward to seeing where I'm going when I squeeze into ...
