Re: Persistent squeak/squeal, a bit stumped for ideas...
I don't think so, what should we be experiencing? Gear change is smooth enough, no noises when cold or warm, and no hunting around for the right gear....

Persistent squeak/squeal, a bit stumped for ideas...
We have a persistent high pitched squeak/squeal on Bongo. It's worse in reverse, but also when normal driving anything up to 50-60mph . Recently had new front brake pads (less than a month ago, as it was an MOT advisory), and new anti-roll-bars (which it originally failed on in the same MOT), so I c...

Help: repair advice needed on Khyam Driveaway
We have a Kyham Driveaway Sleeper 5000, very happy with it. But had a bit of a disaster over the weekend due to a tripping incident: the 'tripper' fell into the bedroom from the main area, and the top right hand corner bedroom fixing ripped the entire corner of the tent away from the pole on the out...

Re: Caravan Club...
Just had a pretty unpleasant experience trying to book onto a C&CC site via their call office in Coventry: apparently because our Bongo isn't converted and isn't registered as a motorhome with DVLA, we aren't allowed on the particular site (Skye), as "we would have everyone turning up and s...

Re: Coolant: paranoid, sensible, or just a novice?
Thanks Doone, the previous puddle was related to a blocked drainhole in at the base of the windscreen, so not really related (and no puddles of any kind since )
re the top up: do I just top up into the header tank, or am I risking airlocks that way ?

Coolant: paranoid, sensible, or just a novice?
Our 2.5TD 4WD seems to be running a little hot (rad smells 'hot' after a long run of an hour or more on open roads), and the engine cover (and therefore the cab) remains warm for a good time afterwards (not comfy in this weather  ), although purrs along quite happily.. Had the coolant changed...

Sliding door problem
Anyone any ideas on this odd sliding door problem: sometimes the door auto-closes, sometimes it doesn't. More annoying is the fact that when it is completely closed, and driving along, we can hear the door mechanism trying to close itself again and again  : even with the engine off. The centra...

Re: Have we bought a 'dog'?
I guess the leak must have been water: no smell and no mark on the drive now it's dry. No visible loss from the header tank (when cold, it's above the max mark). Don't know about the fans cutting in, as my wife drove it home... THanks for the tips

Have we bought a 'dog'?
Picked up a new Bongo last week, (sold our V6, and swapped it for a diesel). The new one has been regularly serviced and is only 68k miles, but at some point in the last 12 months it's had a new radiator. Engine runs a bit rough (it's been standing for a while unused), and smelt hot when we got it h...

Re: Rubber smell on V6: can't pin it down..?
Thanks for all the useful advice. Don't think it's the camshaft seals (they went in Feb after a couple of weeks of 'hot oily smells', which is why we had the cambelt changed :( ), and it's a different kind of smell: more rubbery (thought initially we'd run over a plastic bag or summat..) I'll keep l...

Rubber smell on V6: can't pin it down..?
Had the cambelt changed on our V6 last month (leaky seals), and a couple of days afterwards (after a fairly steep hill climb with two kick-downs), noticed a strong hot rubber smell once we'd parked up. Been on and off for three weeks or so now, and can't pin it down. It's not coming from the tyres, ...

Re: Please help!
Yup, ours just failed at 42k miles (and only had it six months from a very reputable Bongo specialist). Garage quoted 450 to change, promptly did so but one failed immediately, they reckon there maybe a shaft problem

Re: V6 Cam seals

Bongo-friendly garage quoting about 450 to fix them, but they've already tried once and still leaking, so they say there may be a problem with the shaft itself (one of the two seals has held so far)

Re: Smell detectives wanted (pongy V6...)
Thanks apole, there is some oil around the sump hole in the engine guard, but the oil level on the dipstick hasn't dropped (and there's no patch where we've parked). Think it's serious?

Smell detectives wanted (pongy V6...)
We've got a bad smell but can't work out the source :-k . Oil is probably OK (no warning light), coolant alarm hasn't gone off, temp gauge hasn't moved beyond 11 o'clock, engine cover in the cab isn't unduly hot, no leaks or oozing underneath, no reduction in performance, but after about 10 mins of ...
