15 links to 3Z on the ECU which is "Cleaning fan control signal" to "Cleaning fan relay No.3" and should go low when the coolant temp is over 108C 16 links to 3S on the ECU which is "Cleaning fan control" but it does not say what temperature this triggers at. .. From t...

Re: Houston we have a problem.
Core plugs, especially at the REAR of the engine a renowned for this sort of problem/loss. I had this problem (duff core plug) but wasn't aware of any coolant loss - it was just weeping and evaporated so no leak apparent. Ady spotted it. Got a new one and Ady fitted it for me. The plug was on the d...

Re: Mechanics have run out of ideas on how to fix cooling sy
Hi Alvin Checked all through your post – one point has been raised several times but there aint a response anywhere. Have you checked/changed the expansion tank cap? If this is faulty, then you can replace as many heads, head gaskets, switches as you want BUT you will still have the same result – ov...

Re: Mechanics have run out of ideas on how to fix cooling sy
............ The latest theory is that the fans are not coming on due to a problem with the Lower Temperature Sender Unit or the fan relay switch. Is anyone able to give a brief description of whats involved in replacing the Lower Temperature Sender Unit and if necessary the fan relay switch. How l...

I'm not arguing, just puzzled why some folk seem to think it must be a 0.9 one?
widdowson2008 wrote:Trust me - it is purely to cap off the radiator and has absolutely no other function.
No idea - absolutely NONE.

Re: Mechanics have run out of ideas on how to fix cooling sy
But it doesn't matter what the one on the rad is rated at if there's no vent in the neck of the filler, there's nowhere for the coolant to escape to even if it's past the spring  So why is it a pressure cap at all and if it has to be a pressure cap one with a lower rating than the header tank...

Re: Mechanics have run out of ideas on how to fix cooling sy
NB is correct, it’s a shame after all the work members put in to understanding the cooling system you seem to disregard it.
In that case why is there? 1 A pressure cap there at all, when all that is needed is a blank cap to seal off the radiator, other cars manage to cope quite well with o...

Re: Bongo help Gloucestershire, dumping coolant
I know it sounds obvious, but have you checked the expansion tank cap? Should be rated at 1.1 bar. If it has failed, then it WILL dump coolant from the tank. Cheap fix too.

You could also try...... Steel Seal Revolution in a bottle! This stuff will get you out of trouble if you develop a cracked cylinder head. Agree with scanner. Steel Seal aint what it's cracked up to be . Take a look at this thread to see what Steel Seal does to your system. http://www.igmaynard.co....

Re: Year 2000 Bongo heater
Where is the thermostat? I mean I know it says above it's under the dash near the steering, but what does it look like? look under dash by steering round disk with links from a servo look for one disconected This referred to the heater controls not the thermostat. The thermostat was mentioned as co...

Re: Noise and lack of power
Sorry Ady  - Just a first attempt to get to understand the turbo circuit. I agree that it aint all that clear, but yes, the simplified pic is supposed to show it going through the engine then out the exhaust via the turbo. I did a bit of trawling the net to find out what the basic components d...
