Re: Losing Oil
Thanks NB. (Appols for delay in responding). Jubilee clip, I suspect, will have been put in place by Discount Trucks back in 2009 when the recon engine was put in following a head gasket failure. Shall look to replace with normal clips when I next do work on the cooling system. Thanks for the info o...

Losing Oil
Hi Folks, Since the last oil change 6 or so months ago, I've noticed that our Bongo is losing oil. Previously she'd go between services (roughly every 9 months) without needing a top-up, barring one occasion where a poor or poorly fitted oil filter meant I was leaving a train where ever I went for a...

Re: steering oddity
Cleaned and lubricated both joints, and lo and behold steering is all normal once again. Thanks all!

Re: bubble
Heard a bubble before or after shutting the engine off? Whistling an interesting one too. I occasionally get the 'whiff' of coolant into the cab when stuck in traffic on a hot day, esp. having come to a stop at that traffic followojg5 a relatively high speed motorway dash, I always assume it's gas e...

Re: steering oddity
Thanks, After lunch I found the actual PS fluid reservoir (fine), removed top, started engine and moved lock to lock a couple of times (kind of hissing sound at full lock? I assume normal?) couldn't attend to CV joint where I was but will have a look in daylight later this week and give it a clean a...

Re: steering oddity
Thanks (sorry, on mobile phone, hard to search!). So, should be fine until we get home then, and shall clean and lubricate appropriately!

Re: steering oddity
Actually. Just realised what I checked was brake fluid. Will pop out and check PS after lunch, though certain it was OK 3 or 4 days ago.

steering oddity
Hi folks, On Thursday we went through our MOT (192k km) with not a problem. Today, when driving in to London to visit family (90 min run), I noticed steering intermittently going from normal to 'heavy' (as if no power assistance) and then back again. Popping the bonnet I have PS fluid at maximum. An...

Re: Faulty Headlights
To close up on this one, parts Helen linked arrived quickly, and were a quick job (< 30 mins) to fit on using crimps. As a part of that job, I ran new Earth cables to both headlamps (from bolts into the nearby bodywork),as it was these which had melted on both connectors. Looking closely, the origin...

Re: Faulty Headlights
Ah ha!
That'll teach me for going directly to relays (not that I could find one for the headlights!), a fettle around with the connectors does, indeed, give me lighting. I'd love that link Helen!
Thanks,
Gavin.

Faulty Headlights
Hi Folks, Bongo was out of action for a while (burst bottom hose, now replaced, refilled & bled), and since 'resurrection', I have a problem with my headlights. Sidelights fine, but when on dipped or main beams, I get the 'Main Beam' blue indicator light on on the dashboard, but no actual headli...

Bongo friendly garage in Kent
Hi Folks, Moved house recently, down from Hertfordshire to Kent. I'm looking for a Bongo friendly garage (specifically with cooling system experience, having had a disaster with a non-friendly garage a few years back, and noticed a weep from a hose to the bottom of the rad recently which a quick tig...

Re: Baby Seat: Maxi-Cosi Easybase 2?
For what it's worth, our baby (Oscar) has arrived, and is comfortably & safely transported in the Bongo (camper top) in a MaxiCosi CabrioFIX held into the car using the EasyBase2 (would work just as well without).

Re: Baby Seat: Maxi-Cosi Easybase 2?
ska - the maxi cosi? excellent news - did you have to do anything to the seatbelt to make babyseat work?
