Re: Bongo Breakdown (Paris)
Have owned 2 V6 Bongos I have rearly ever heard the cooling fans run. Certantly not on a regularly basis. Only heard if the ambieant temprature was very high & I'd been stuck in stationary or slow moving for long periods. Was the van actually showing signs of overheating? Having had the cambelts...

Re: V6 cranking but not starting - run out of ideas!
If replacing the cambelt on the V6 you need to be changing the following to ensure future reliabilty & trouble free motoring. All cam & crank seals as the V6 is known to suffer from these becoming leaky. All cambelt tensioners & the weater pump. It is such a big job & as some coolant...

Re: Engine cooling fans confused
I've come across this before, a friend tried to do the same. Found that the fan motors being DC acted as generators & illuminated the lamps he'd installed. As the fans can still be spinning down when coming to a stop, the lamps sometime stayed illuminated for a short while.

Re: Install/adjust alternator belt & pulley. 2.5 petrol.
You will find that one of the pulleys is sprung loaded. That is why you cant see any adjusters. Put a spanner on the centre nut & apply leverage & you can spring it inward to enable the belt to be removed. Cant remember which ones but sure it will be fairly easy to identify. This goes for bo...

Re: Air Con Tensioner pulley
Sorry for late response, how did you get on with your problem? With the type of bearing fitted to this pully, if it is stiffening up the pully when tightened then the bearing must be faulty. It shouldn't cause it to stiffen up at all.

Passenger window switch intermitant.
Hi all, I have a strange problem with the passenger side electric window switch. On occassions it doesn't work. However if I operate the window momentarily from the drivers side switch it restores control to the passenger switch for a few uses, then same will happen again. Any ideas please. I have h...

V6 Exhaust header downpipes.
Help needed. My V6 exhaust down pipes from the exhaust manifolds down to the front of the cat had started to fail. In order to get through the MOT I purchased a second hand set of pipes. However these are of course many years old. They have only been fitted for about a month & are now blowing an...

Re: V6 petrol, oil pressure gauge.
Thanks Teenmal, Does the engine managment system require any information about engine temprature via this sensor? If not I can see that removing the sensor would free up a location point to take the oil pressure from. The other method mentioned was to fit a sanswitch plate, how do I know what size/f...

V6 petrol, oil pressure gauge.
Hi, van is getting on a bit in age. And as the V6 would take a lot of work if the engine ever needed any major rebuild. Thought as well as the coolant alarm I'd like to fit an oil pressure gauge to keep an eye on general engine health. So question is, has any one done this? I assume that I need to g...

Never had that problem, always aligned up for me. Suspect that your seat has had some stress somewhere that has sprung the metal work.

Hi, After 12 years of ownership & reading furom threads I would most certainly think that the head has failed as the discription is typical of all others I've read about & herad of at national get togethers. I would think that your best & most cost effective way of resolving the issue, a...

Re: Tyres losing pressure
Hi, Not uncommon problem with all brands of motors with all brands of alloys. Had this pronblem with many alloy wheeles over the years as they've got older & corrossion has set in. Whenever I have my tyres changed I ask for them to ensure that the rims are cleaned well & that the more heavy ...

Re: Problem checking oil on JAL conversion
Hi, I know that this answer does mean a little bit of work. However it isn't to time consuming once you get used to the location of the bolts. Take out the seats in order to tip up the engine covers. I used to have a similar problem with lifting the drivers side seat on my camper with full side conv...
