Re: MOT Fail :-( track rod ball joint cover deteriorated

OHNO 5925 is the company name for a producer of ball joint and track rod end covers.... they now (just)do them for the Bongo's lower ball joint.... As for Bongo's needing joints and or wishbones..... they are not alone since the new MOT regs for 2012..... 90% of failures now are ball joint covers/b...

Re: undersealing

Its ideal temperatures at the moment to do waxoyling. It is very messy but if you take your time and do it carefully you can be sure that the jobs done well. When I did mine I had the advantage that the vehicle had just come into the country and the underneath was like new. I used the 5 litre can of...

Re: Bongo stalls on long journeys

The only other thing I can think of is the stop solenoid playing up, but the symptoms would point, as Scanner says to a blockage in the breather system of the fuel supply.

Re: The Pastic button on the drivers floor ???

Just been to look at mine and if you turn and pull the plastic 'button' off there is an adjustment screw and nut underneath. As Kirsty says it looks like its just to adjust how far you can push the pedal down. Never noticed it before and thought it might be something ingenious...............but no.

Re: Correct tyres

I think most people run with the same size tyre all round, mine are the same as yours 215 65 R15.
I usually run with the tyre pressure at about 32psi front (2.2 bar) and 34psi rear (2.4bar).

Re: WING MIRROR PROBLEM.

A way of securing it is to drill a small hole through the plastic and into the aluminium (monkey metal) frame underneath where the mirror pivots, obviously making sure the mirror is set in the correct position first. Then screw a small self tapping screw into the hole. The trouble with this is that ...

Re: Intermittent gearbox fault

It is normal for the auto box not to change into top when the oil is cold, I've had other auto's that did this, I believe its to prevent damage to the box until it warms up. Another recent poster had a similar problem as yourself (changing down unexpectedly) as did I. Mine was cured by a change of f...

Re: unusual gearbox shift

It may not be a gearbox issue. I had a similar problem which I cured with a change of fuel filter and cleaning out the banjo filter. What I think happens is that if the filters are blocked it restricts the amount of fuel through (obviously) but the position of the throttle makes the gearbox think yo...

Re: Rear Brake Parts

I wouldn't mind betting that things like springs and pins from brakes were the same on lots of vehicles. If motor factors can't source some possibly a breakers (not necessarily Bongo) might have them.

Re: Gearchange.

I'm sure this is nothing to do with the gearbox. It sounds more like a bit of wear in the rear diff. Mine does it, putting the brakes on basically prevents the power from the engine quickly taking up the slack in the diff, which is the 'clunk'.

Re: Cambelt tensioner ?

Never done the job but looking at the diagram in the workshop manual it looks like the tensioner bolt goes through the slot and is then tightened when the spring takes up the slack.

Re: AFT won't fully raise

Its best to raise the AFT with the tent completely unzipped. This eliminates the resistance of the tent material and the bellows effect. The motors then have less work to do.
