Re: Glow plug light flickering
So for 2 days I thought I had cracked it, even took it out yesterday admit was fine the entire trip but today, same issue. So I have checked and cleaned more wiring and connectors but I am honestly not finding anything wrong, although it was fine when I left it this evening, so I might have fixed it...

Re: Best Rust Killer
I can second that Bilt and Hamber stuff is good. They do a product very like Krust but better. I have also used POR-15, it's like a rust encapsulator but it will come back, although you do get about 5 years out of it. It's hard to store and no one seems to have any god advice as to how best you can ...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
:( Well the last 2 days the van has fired up fine. Today I thought we would take it out for a run today but she said No! So I have cleaned some more connections, mainly the engine and body earths and she started fine after that so went a wee run for a couple of miles, all was fine but I really don't...

Re: Coolant / heating
Your coolant may be full of Radweld or similar if someone has used this in the past to seal small leaks. It does this very well but ultimately causes problems as it can block small mater galleries, mixing with bit of rust and crud that accumulate in the system. I the short term I would try to fix th...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
Good news, hope you are right and everything is Ok now :D I am a bit disillusioned with mine, been talking to some people but haven't touched it again. Our van isn't prone to loose connections but just when you say that, maybe it is worth checking all the stuff that was off when the head got changed...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
H, Thanks for that, been doing some research and was thinking it can't be anything to do with them. They seem to be cold start solenoids and vacuum solenoids for the EGR. So it seems a similar signal is being sent out to these when I try to start the van, this is the click or no click I can hear, so...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
Latest update; Been at it again today and I am beginning to think it's maybe not the Temp sensor  I have narrowed the clicking down to the vacuum solenoids which sit on a bracket to the side of the rocker cover ( RHS of engine). This is the only way I can describe them, they all have vac pipe...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
Hello Streetwise, sorry to hear of your difficulties,I haven't got to the bottom of mine, so can't help you much other than suggest you keep reading here as well, unless maybe we should start our own club? :D I don't think the flashing glow plug light being an indication of a fault is relevant i my ...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
Thank you, I did a Google search and got "Electronic Throttle Control", Whaat, on a Bongo, don't think so! So this morning, van not interested in starting. So I left it till afternoon, till I had time to have a look. I really wanted to test the voltage to the glow plugs when the issue is h...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
I was on here yesterday and read about a guy who's Bongo wouldn't start, there were a couple of things I picked up on and also I wanted to check the situation with the batteries, left for a few days as above. At first the problem was present, fans on straight after turning the key, glow plug light f...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
We have 2 starter batteries and they are both about a year old, so should be OK. I had the van running today and everything was fine. I noted a post on here where someone had issues with the under bonnet electrics, so I did a check on them but nothing obvious. Once it's sat for a couple of days I wi...

Re: Unusual Starting problem.
Next chapter in the sorry saga; Next time I went to start the van I got the issue again, fans on immediately, no glow plug light but it did start to flicker and click quicker than the last time. I am concerned this may damage the new relay so didn't let it do that, checked connections and everything...
