Re: Bubbling funnel when bleeding
Hello Ricky Bongo, I have experienced the same issues myself previously and (I hope this isn't the case for you) it was down to either head cracking or gasket failure Sir. I've had both, not pleasant and quite expensive! Please read my earlier post- https://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?...

Re: Dude, where's my bleed hose?
Hello BongoJoe, A 3 way pipe fitting is another option to replace your existing 2 way one. The 3rd outlet goes to the new bleed pipe. However another option is to fit a header tank from a 2l petrol (which I think is standard) if you can get one, they have another inlet at the top. Geoff- please corr...

Low cost compatible ABS/wheel speed sensor
Hello All, I thought I should pass on a very cost effective, fully compatible ABS wheel speed sensor- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385619423281 I've just fitted one to the front right wheel on my Freda and all is well; no more expensive light on the dash! The unit needed a bit of sanding/filing to mak...

Re: ABS Light
Hello Geoff, Many thanks for your help. I now have a fault code 11 which points toward the front right sensor. This is odd as the resistance reading was OK earlier. I've checked the brake lights and fuse, apart from a damaged wire between the connector and ABS controller- can you think of anything e...

ABS Light
Hello All, I have a 1996 2.5D Ford Freda. An expensive light has recently been troubling me- 4W ABS! I've had a look online and found a youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az3eHuXDW8E that shows how to retrieve flash codes on the dashboard. I have connected the pin to ground as shown, but ...

Re: 2.5 diesel cooling problems solved- fingers crossed!
Hello teenmal. Good question. The hoses were replaced by the previous owner in 2015. I replaced the radiator in 2017 when the original cylinder head cracked. The coolant system was repeatedly flushed until the water came out clean. The thermostat was checked and opened up nicely in boiling water, th...

Re: 2.5 diesel cooling problems solved- fingers crossed!
Hello Alkers, The EWP 115 is the recommended unit, these are around £300. Demon Tweaks stock them. It took about half a day to fit the pump and temperature sensor and a bit longer to do the wiring and fit the controller. The only head scratching bit was working out how to wire the fan relays as the ...

2.5 diesel cooling problems solved- fingers crossed!
Hello All, I think it only polite to pass on some valuable advice for a change; regarding the 2.5D engine. This is mostly in relation to the over-heating gremlins that seem to haunt these fine power plants. I must give a big thank-you at this stage to Geoff who has imparted some invaluable guidance ...

Re: Rear Heater
Hello Geoff,
Thanks again for the information supplied.
There must have been a bad contact somewhere. I pulled all connectors apart, tested the relay on a battery, checked the on/off switch at the front and for some reason it all works now!

Many thanks Geoff, that's spot-on.
It looks like the relay is by the heater controls in the middle of the van.

Rear Heater
Hello All, My rear heater fan has been intermittent for a while and now doesn't work at all. When I switch it on via the switch by the steering wheel I cannot hear a relay click and the light on the switch doesn't come on. The fuse under the bonnet is ok. Does anyone know where I might find the rela...

Re: Front heater blower
Many thanks Geoff. Taking a look at the wiring diagram has highlighted the issue. Fuse 5 is marked as air con but also has a common connection with the front heater fan relay. I had assumed that it only did the air con (which hasn't worked in years) so cut the wire at the back of the fuse box and re...
