Touring Europe in a diesel
Just trying to be certain what we can and can’t do with our Bongo. We might book a late ferry this summer and go exploring as we haven’t been to Europe for five years and didn’t have a van then. We don’t want to plan anything specific but perhaps head in a general direction and see where we end up. ...

Re: Dual fit Alloys
I'm replacing alloy wheels with alloy wheels therefore my insurance policy is competely unchanged - in fact I'm going closer to standard as this is a 15" wheel where as before they were 16"

Dual fit Alloys
Are these a thing? The van we have had for a year has multiple fixing holes in the alloy rims fitted. There are 8 holes although two of these are Siamese in the same recess. The wheels fitted are 16 inch with a low pro tyre and I wanted something a bit more conventional, not least to match the 15’ s...

Re: Mystery warning alarm
It turns out it was the low coolant alarm. For some reason it was giving a false signal and then when I pressed the test button it got louder. The alarm was not a type I recognised so it’s been removed and a Haydn alarm fitted.
The noise has gone!
Beware of cheap imitations!

Re: Mystery warning alarm
Yeah I figured unless it was a typical regularly purchased alarm (like the coolant one) I would end up tracing the wires. Goodness knows where to start on that! It's not related to the doors or reverse. I get all those normal beeps. This is constantly on now whenever the ignition is on, you can fain...

Mystery warning alarm
We were on a long ish journey last week - the first with the new head but that’s another story - and we heard a muffled high pitched tone which wouldn’t stop. On further investigation we found this after market alarm siren wrapped in wadding to presumably muffle it tucked up above the fuse board. I ...

Missing fuses
I’m not sure when these were removed or if they have always been missing since we bought the van last august but the previous owner said he had never touched the fuses so I’m a bit confused if I need the missing ones from the photo attached or if they are optional systems not in our van or someone i...

Re: Not starting
I've fitted a new starter battery, I splashed out and bought a Bosch one and it's a definite improvement. It started on first turn of the key but is still lumpy. I haven't yet had a proper chance to investigate further. I am of the view it may well need a leisure battery too but one thing at a time....

Re: Not starting
I’ve just cranked it and the starter battery dropped to 8v. Interesting it was better cranking it now but didn’t seem inclined to start. Thinking that battery is pretty much dead. The solar panel is still covered in Saharan dust which may not be helping its efficiency. How do I test how healthy my l...

Re: Not starting
Well I’ve managed to prime the injectors and can see a little fuel trickling out when the engine turns so I have fuel there but now it’s really reluctant to turn. I have 12 volts at both starter and leisure battery but it only turns a revolution really slowly and then stops. The whole thing has been...

Re: 2 DIN Drama :-(
Our bongo came with what appears to be a decent quality 2x din Pioneer unit with reverse camera. Personally I’m not a fan and would like to switch to a standard 1xdin dab stereo. I could fit a temperature display with bmw clock in the space underneath that way. Would you like to make me an offer for...

Not starting
I’ve been having overheating issues for a little while and methodically went through the cooling system and replaced the thermostat, radiator and water pump and have checked and flushed all the hoses I’m able to find. The last test I carried out was a ‘splot’ test as described in the overheating fac...
