Re: Making an awning Driveaway-able
I do not yet own a Bongo but I have had VW campers (same as the one in the picture ^^^) with a couple of different drive away awnings. TBH fitting the figure of 8 was easy and became routine. I left mine attached to the awning and just snapped it back to the van gutter once back in place. One thing ...

Could you not use a multi car policy? I believe Admiral run something like that or maybe a stated mileage policy? An advantage of taxing on line is that you can switch off and then on again, this is what I do during the warmer weather, providing you have off street parking of course. I That's an ide...

Re: Another newbie..
...More nuggets of wisdom, thank you. Unlike older VWs, the Bongo is not yet a "classic" (no offence anybody), so insurance is more on a par with a modern car and not tax exempt either. Those two points also made me keen on the one vehicle solution, as it would make an expensive to tax/ins...

Re: Another newbie..
Many thanks for all the sound advice folks
Heart says one thing, head says the other.
I think my first step will be to get a good drive in a few at the local dealers.

Re: Another newbie..
Your right of course and there is depreciation to factor in. A brand new hatchback + fuel could end up costing more over a few years than a good Bongo + (considerably more) fuel. The Bongo will cost less to buy and depreciate less, so the fuel costs are offset somewhat by the lack of depreciation......

Re: Another newbie..
Thanks for the warm welcome Bob :D My last VW camper appreciated in value as I improved it but in the end I was frightened to leave it anywhere and we couldn't justify such a large chunk of capital being used only occasionally so when I received a very good offer, it was sold and the cash reabsorbed...
