Anyone recommend a bike rack for the tailgate? Ive been looking around but I'm not sure what will fit. Any advice greatly received.

Re: Relay or fuse to glow plugs

Resistance or ohms or Greek omega symbol: use for checking a fuse when removed from vehicle. Dont use this setting on live electrics. Volts DC (DC may be indicated by 2 short parallel lines, one dotted) : use to measure presence of power by putting black probe on a good chassis earth point and red ...

Re: Relay or fuse to glow plugs

Thanks I might have to get a meter! I have a very cheap one that came with a tool kit but I don't' quite know how to use it. It has a resistor setting. I assume that I could use this? The leisure battery is fully charged but the central locking, internal lights and the radio don't work. I disconnect...

Re: Relay or fuse to glow plugs

Hello I changed the fusible link which didn't solve the problem so I changed the relay. The van started but it was a warm evening so I was still concerned that the glow plug were still not working. I tried again this morning (it was a bit cold) and it failed to start. The relay is working as I can h...

Relay or fuse to glow plugs

Hello I posted a while ago that my bongo wouldn't start. I have had a mechanic look at it and he thinks it is a fuse or relay fault. Using a probe he confirmed no current to the glowplugs and when he supplied a current to them it started. He checked all the fuses that he could see but still can't fi...

Re: My bongo has stopped starting

Thanks that is really useful advice. I have found an old multimeter. If I take out the fuse and test with the resistor setting, would no reading mean faulty fuse?

Re: My bongo has stopped starting

The black fuel leads were connected to the red and black leads of the cut off leads by male and female connectors. I reconnected the black fuel pump leads. I haven't connected the red and black cut off leads as I thought I wouldn't need to. Do you think I should?

Re: My bongo has stopped starting

Thanks Geoff, yes all those have failed. I'm not very technical, so does that mean the fuse on the top right of the bank of fuses below the steering column needs replacing?

Re: My bongo has stopped starting

I've managed to get it started!!! :) I was talking to a friend who mentioned the fuel pump and remembered the previous owner had fitted a Disabler to the fuel pump for security. It wasn't switch on but I thought if there was a problem with the electrics it might have stuck. I disconnected it and it ...

Re: My bongo has stopped starting

So I've checked the leisure battery and that is fully charged. I've checked all the fuses and they all look OK. Still no power internally (apart from fan heater) and still turns over but not starting :( ?

Re: My bongo has stopped starting

Thanks I'll check. When you say check do they look 'blown' or will I need some sort of meter? I think I might have a meter some where but I don't know how to use it!
